Well going by my placing my order today, mine won't be built for at least 6 months. I would like to think I'm getting a 3-door Golf R,not a scirocco.. Better confirm with Barlos tomorrow!

Ray ordered an almost fully loaded Golf R (minus Recaros & S/Roof) 5 door in final week of December 2010 with expected delivery in Aug 2011. Our local dealer told him last week that there will be some changes to the Golf R prior to build & delivery date. No elaboration on what will be changed, but there will be changes to this model. Wait and see.
Cheers
WJ

What a stupid decision to remove the 77tdi DSG, it needed an upgrade to the same interior specs plus alloys that the 90tsi got, Aussies like having an auto option in everythingCurrent drive: 2014 Golf 90TSI Comfortline 6sp Manual
Gone but not forgotten: 2009 Golf 103TDI Comfortline United Grey DSG Sports Pack RNS510 Nav Sunroof

based loosely on NZ pricing:
NZ Pricing:
Golf R 5 dr
199kW TSI = $73,500 (AUD 54,000)
Scirocco R
2.0 litre (195kW) = $69,250 (AUD 52,000)
the Scirocco R would be 2-3k cheaper than 5dr R? that is where the 3dr R is currently priced isn't it?
EDIT: did a quick check.. there is a 5dr DSG Rising Blue R with 5000kms for $52,000. anyone in the market?!Last edited by MariusGT; 18-04-2011, 09:28 PM.Current - MY16 2015 Octavia VRS Wagon 220 tsi DSG Corrida Red, tech, Leather, 18" black

77tdi
Pretty rude getting rid of the DSG 77TDI, that model really should've received the same upgrades the 90TSI did, and it would become a great package. Would really have shafted the Hyundai i30 CRDi.
Though have noticed BlueMotion Golfs getting around Mascot, obviously this is designed to replace the 77TDI. Some people may not want the body kit though.Current drive: 2014 Golf 90TSI Comfortline 6sp Manual

Just gotta make sure mine doesn't get wiped out now, 5 door sucks and the rocco looks horrible from the middle back hehe.

Maybe we won't get the Scirocco now anyway...
What's the point of the Scirocco now that the New New Beetle has been released? They're both on the Golf chassis, they're both 2/3 door, they're both in the same price category, same engines, etc. They both fill the same space.
My prediction.
Australia has missed it's chance for the Scirocco. We'll be getting the New New Beetle instead
