  • MY12 Model changes Golf

    Hey Guys,

I was reading the MY11.5 post, and thought I would start a new thread instead of adding to that one....

Anyone know what build week the MY12 comes into play?
I've ordered a GTI, and it looks like the build date (from the dealers estimate of 3 months before build) will be early to mid May.
I remember reading in the MY12 ESP Change article that this was around the time that MY12's will start being produced.

Will all orders passed a certain date just switch over to MY12's if they are sent into build after the date?

    Thanks!
    T Go

    Of course.
They dont retrofit a vehicle to a earlier spec if they have changed the production line spec.
if you are lucky to have your car go into production after the MY change, then you get all the changes that spec change signifies.

Based on the past history of "changes" threads, I'm going to close this one for the time being.

MY12 will come out "when it's done".
What changes will come out when be told then.

Big arguments have broken out even in the MY11.5 and MY11 threads AFTER the "actual list" has been provided because of people coming in, not realising who was "speculating" and who was providing "the information". So there's no point this being open until there is any "actual information".

If someone gets hold of the list, please PM me and I'll reopen the thread and put your post first. Cheers.

just to add, the GTI's from MY2011 come with smaller rear brake rotors, 272mm instead of 286mm, and different rear calipers and brake pads.

PR code 1KT for the rear brakes = 272mm.

3Dr thing might be related to the US release of the R (although can't remember if they said they'd be doing 3dr there or not). Either way, I somewhat suspect the majority of R sales are 5dr anyway, so dropping the 3dr isn't a complete shock.

The VWA PDF will find its way on the net soon enough.

I'm led to believe that no new 3 door R orders will be possible, effective immediately. There are also a couple other Golf combination/options changes/removals.

Yah... these seem to be ordering changes rather than MY changes....

Well, I'm happy as hell I ordered my 3 door before this all happened.

But I will sacrifice a live goat and damn VAG to the depths of Satan's sweet hell if they enforce this on all future 'performance' Golf models. I mean, is it really that hard to send a special order to the factory to have a 3DR built?

In any case, I think you'll still be able to order a 3DR if you want one bad enough. Enough people have been able to get a Tornado Red R, which are supposed to be 'impossible' to order from Australia.

Agreed Leon. But there have been many heated discussions on 3 door vs 5 door in the past, so lets not turn this into a thread about that.
Lets just leave it for information on MY12 changes.

As I've said in my last post, these changes are changing in ordering. Whether they are part of MY12 or not is another thing. When MY changes are announced to the dealers, there is usually a document which details the actual things in the cars which are changing. Thus far, no word on that.
