Well that only tells you how much the Subaru Forester sucks. The Golf wagon has heaps more luggage space than the Golf hatch.
Interestingly, the Golf 3 door hatch has more rear seat space than the Golf 5 door hatch

Probably the best conclusion that can be drawn directly from this thread

Corey, I NEVER want to have to park a wagon in the city or a shpping center and I find the Golf (previously Ford Focus and Peugeot 306) sized car perfectly adequate for transporting my family (and previously all my race gear for my GP bike). And having had a 3 door car for the 1st 6 months of transporting my child, I'll take 5 doors any day.
Plus where can you buy a BMW 135i for a bit less than the price of a Golf (because that's what a Sirocco is worth o/s)

But I wasn't complaining about the luggage room in either of them and the only sucking that has gone on is our Golf's sucking of 3l of oil before its first oil change. So in that way the Forester hasn't sucked at all. ps sorry for getting off topic.

Awesome. The 'Ring is where its at for performance proving. Seven seconds?! Thats pretty good!! Expected it though. AWD.

Mate, I still have Forester (didn't sell it yet) but I can put much more luggage in Forester than in Golf5, and the Golf6 luggage space look the same to me.

              +1, computer says no.

Interesting to see if the Scirocco R actually makes it here, would be fairly unique and faster around the track too. 3dr Golf's still look good too, but not exactly a sports/coupe shape just the same hatchback but with two less doors.

I think there could be a few people cancelling their orders if it's true!

The three door models are just try hards, you want a more sporty looking car get the Scirocco.

I'd expect that you could given that it's a small SUV, but still find i can fit a lot in the golf with great ease (and not hard to fold the seats down and/or remove the parcel tray). Mind you, a lot of soft-off roaders i've seen don't have much depth in the boot with the seats in the normal position.

Just depends on how high you are willing to pack.

Thats fine for the rear seat passengers, but the front seat people (and I'm assuming the owner / partner combo) still have to get wet when its raining to let rear seat people out!
Can't see that as being an ideal car.

Its not only about it being an ideal car.. Has to be fun too!! I would have gotten the 3 door but I know Im keeping this car for a while, so went 5 to avoid trade/sell car issues later on.

                        3 doors are cooler/look better/ street cred.

Its not like the 118TSI has a 3dr option anyway..

I just mean you cnt tell someone whats good and isnt I have learnt. 3drs are great and as someone who has owned a 3dr skyline and Bmw, it really was no hastle cause It looked that much better than a 4dr..

Everyone is different with what they are willing to put up with I guess.

Yep, never had any issues with kids or friends in the back.
Plus, the thing is, if I were to have children of my own, they wouldn't be here for about a year, and then it'd be about 5 years before you'd even start to contemplate the idea of turning off the "child lock" on the rear doors anyway. Meaning someone has to get out to let the kids out anyway. And hell, in 6 years, who knows what car I may or may not have.

In any case, getting out and pulling the seat forward or opening the rear door for the kids, makes no difference at all to me. And having had kids in the back of previous cars plenty of times, I really don't understand why everyone thinks that difference is so earth shattering.

Yep, it's not worth having to sell a car for something so silly when you could have the exact same car in 5dr and not worry.

The room in the back is basically the same don't think it matters.

Just have to get which one you want, but it's not like the 3dr version is really 10x better as made out.

Its not 10x better its just 10x cooler cos it says "I bought this car for me" not "I bought this car cos my wife told me thats what I was allowed to have"
