Pretty normally I would say. The exhaust note caught my attention - deep & throaty. Speaking of which the stock exhausts are also pretty bassy & loud actually!

Have been lurking for some time, well actually since I got the R32 a few years ago. Finally bit the bullet and ordered a new R, now the wait. Contract says Jun, but more likely Jul. Pretty much all options other than Recaros, Dynaudio and reversing camera.

51.5 driveaway is what I finally agreed on.

Leather, manual, 3 door, rising blue, MDI.

I think I did ok in the end. Probably could have chucked on ACC but don't know whether I should change it or not.

If you want to do it I suggest you do it now, becasue VW are chucking any altered orders to the back of the queue. I wanted to add an RVC and change maybe to United Grey, but I was told it would be at the expense of my place in the "Dealer Spec" line. Corey Dermot or Serge can you back up whether this is true?

Previously, you could almost change as much as you want up until when your car was allocated a build week...
But now I'm not sure beacuse of this change in the way orders are processed to attempt to minimise how long the wait times are blowing out to... I'd have to defer to a dealer on this one...

                    G'day all,

Great thread, forgive me if these have been answered before. Hope you can help me with my options, I need to lock my R in soon so I can begin the hefty waiting period prior to the lease on my GTI expiring.

I'm told that you don't really need ACC if you go for the standard R wheels, but if you upgrade to those awesome 19" then it becomes almost a necessity, can you guys comment? To help you, I enjoy my driving but will be commuting during the weeks and then letting loose at the weekend and for roadtrips etc, but can't see myself on any tracks! With that in mind should I tick both or none or one? Any thoughts? I'm thinking of going manual as I love being in total control and have driven manual all my life, would this decision impact the wheels decision at all? It will be a five door if that makes any diff!

The RVC looks great when I was in the car yesterday, can I get this without Satnav though, the options list says 'Only with RNS510' ?

Going to go for that beautiful Rising Blue, so different and cool. Black or silver wheels though...hmmm

You lot are all great, this place has been very helpful to me over the years.

Finally, I'd love to buy my R from Dermot in WA, everything a dealer should be by the looks of it, but I'm just not sure how we'd get it over to Sydney Derm!

                    Cheers
                    Langers

PS. The boot is much smaller than the GTI's huh, compared both yesterday!

Previously we could change spec of the car when it was in "Ordered" status, now we have to place a brand new order with "dealer spec" status.

Whilst ACC has a button which provides 3 damper profiles (Comfort, Normal and Sport), that is not the main benefit of ACC. "Normal" is not the same as not having ACC. ACC measures the suspension (and body and many other things) 1000 times per second and adjusts the valves in the suspension to give you a dynamic and optimal ride (with respect to which "profile" you've selected). What I mean by "dynamic" is that when you go around a corner at a decent speed, it firms up the loaded side of the car in an effort to keep the car flat through the corner, instead of rolling. Yet it'll still allow you to hit a bump without upsetting the car too much.
If you didn't get ACC, you'd need a combination of suspension and anti-roll bars to achieve the same - yet you'd always have a compromised ride as far as comfort goes. Forum members who have previously gone the K&W coil-over route in combination with anti-roll bars have gone ACC on their MK6 and left it at that....

The latest brochures stills say that the RVC is applicable to the RNS510 or the RCD510 which is standard in the R.

Dermot can organise for the car to be transported to Sydney and then delivered via one of the VW dealers in the same franchise as his. The cost of the transport would obviously be added to the cost of the car - but depending on your deals with local dealers, he still can be very competitve.

Yep, you lose 10cm of depth from the boot!

                          Good on you Corey, thanks!

So you reckon I tick the ACC box and the 19" wheel box to get the best out of the optimum ride system then? Or are the standard wheels OK with it?

Thanks for the tip re Dermot as well, I just like the way he does business even though I have never met the guy...

Get 19" if you like the look of them better. It has already been shown in comparisons of the GTI 17" vs 18" that the 17's are better on the track. The 18's sidewall is already small enough that going to the 19's is only going to hamper track performance, and on the road it'll make the ride slightly more harsh, and the tyres will be more expensive....

So the only advantage to the 19's is if you believe they look better.

I say if you have the opportunity lock in the ACC, i hear it is a great piece of kit.
However by no means is it a 'necessity' if you have 19" rims. I have no ACC with 19's and the ride and handling is still fantastic.

Tough one this one, comes down to personal choice at the end of the day, lots of pics available now of the RB with black and silver rims so have a squiz and see which you prefer. Either way it will look cool..

Big thumbs up for Dermot if you can order from him, doesn't give you bull crap stories with regards to unrealistic delivery dates and happy to answer any questions, which with me there were many..
