There are differences in registration, compulsary insurances, and license plate costs. There are differences in the "average dealer delivery" cost. There are differences in "what the stamp duty applies to" (i.e. base car, base car with options, base car with options plus dealer delivery plus LCT?), and there are differences in the % of the stamp duty - including some states who have sliding stamp duty percentages, two tier stamp duties (accumulative - i.e. <45000 amount at 3% and >45000 amount at 5%), and two tier stamp duties (cut off - i.e. <57466 at 2.5%, and then if you're over that, the entire value is at 5%).
Put all these variables in there, and it's why most people have no idea what a car is really worth drive away unless they're using a spreadsheet which is accurately maintained (I'm pretty sure it needs some rego and CTP costs updated atm! damn!)Comment

Some people (like me) are happy to forfeit a big discount to get hold of the car straight away, rather than the 10 months wait that is expected now.
