        • Garage door opening switch. Light not working.

Hi. I have connected the switch and the door will open, but i cannot get the light to work.
So i am not connecting it up properly. Can someone advise how it is connected for power to the switch.
My car is a 2012 golf 118 tsi. I read somewhere to connect one of the connectors to the ESP switch but i cannot see how it can be done.
Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Of course! Hence the price I said.

The only one I found that was under that price is this listing but the top picture doesn't match the one in the body. Appears to be a generic crap one which I'm sure I could get at supercheap.

                • There have been a few OEM ones on eBay for $30-50 but they sell quick

You can get them from the UK but postage is a killer

It isn't — you could knock one up out of shadecloth or similar (the stuff that's used for covering fruit trees comes to mind — it's very strong and can be had in black) for a dollar or so, or get a cheap trailer net and cut it to fit.

My Golf came with the OEM one thrown in over two years ago and I've yet to even unroll it.

Dealers. eBay and the net are not the only selling tools for merchandise

shade cloth has no give/stretch and actually tears too easily

If you don't use yours, sell it to person wanting it

                          • I still cannot figure out how to get the light to work on the garage door switch.

I am hoping for an answer from someone. I have the switch area opened up waiting for a clue but it seems i will have to use it without the lighting. A garage switch is very handy on the dash , as it is less items laying around in the car.

                            • I haven't done this myself so it's hard for me to give advice bull. But have you looked at one of the guides done by other members on this forum? Or what about Maverick's guide on my-gti.com?

                              • Thanks Corey for your reply.

I finally worked it out. The ESP switch comes apart and the pinned adapter fits inbetween the ESP switch two halves.
I found it very difficult to get the ESP switch apart, it has a small toggle on the side that has to be pushed right in.
Just as well i am persistant and i didn't give up. Or maybe i am just plain dumb.

I am reading through the book on the car so i am likely to have some more dumb questions later on.

I have got the VWWatercooled sticker on the back of the car and i feel part of our group.
