About damn time. I drove a 2008 Tiguan 125TSI the other week and couldn't believe it also rattled. Googled it when I got home and found it has the EA888 as well, so they will have more than just mk6 GTIs to fix.
I have got over the rattle but it still detracts from what is otherwise a flawless car. I'm looking forward to hearing the last of it!Comment

I had same issue it sounded at first like it was a pinging sound from poor fuel quality but i always fill with 98 Ron. After searching for
possible cause i have learned that this noise is a normal sound caused by air turbulence close to wastegate then hitting the down pipe. No
need to worry!!!!!!!Comment

Just got mine and its an april 2011 build , have been playing around the tacho range and so far no rattle or whistles .
Asked the dealer before i purchased about this issue , all he said was the issue has been fixed and will effect not cars built in 2011 .
They really should retro fix the noise if its so irritating , there is a fix .GTI clubsport/edition 40 manual white 2016
