MK6 GTI - Rattle upon acceleration - Resolved via TPI: 2021062/7

So from looking at that link, it looks as though Volkswagen have come up with a small spring-clip type thingy to go on the wastegate actuator rod and prevent this rattle.

Anyone spoken to their local VW dealer yet? Are they open to fixing the issue now that a part # has been generated?

About damn time. I drove a 2008 Tiguan 125TSI the other week and couldn't believe it also rattled. Googled it when I got home and found it has the EA888 as well, so they will have more than just mk6 GTIs to fix.

I have got over the rattle but it still detracts from what is otherwise a flawless car. I'm looking forward to hearing the last of it!

I had same issue it sounded at first like it was a pinging sound from poor fuel quality but i always fill with 98 Ron. After searching for
possible cause i have learned that this noise is a normal sound caused by air turbulence close to wastegate then hitting the down pipe. No
need to worry!!!!!!!

Just got mine and its an april 2011 build , have been playing around the tacho range and so far no rattle or whistles .

Asked the dealer before i purchased about this issue , all he said was the issue has been fixed and will effect not cars built in 2011 .

They really should retro fix the noise if its so irritating , there is a fix .

Not true, my car is an April 11 build GTI and it has the rattle (has from day 1, only had it a week so far).

Looking forward to their response also Whitegti11, especially as I just had my car serviced at their Doncaster service centre 2 weeks ago and asked the service manager if any updates or news on a fix for this annoying rattle.

Mines too...April build. Had the GTI for a week. Strangely only had this sound after filled with 98 Ron.
