No relevance?! It may be a TSB for N.A but we are talking about the same engine with the same issue world-wide. Certainly relevant to those of us who are experiencing this disgraceful situation, we have hope that someone may actually be looking for a solution they can apply to the rest of the VW worldwide market. Ide say very relevant.Originally posted by DermotTo the best of my knowledge that TSB is specific to the North American market and has no relevance anywhere else in the world....

Yes the TSB is specific to the NA market and VWA refuse to acknowledge it. But since our vehicles are all made in the same factory and exhibit the same problem, then it's absolutely relevant. It shows that the problem is being taken seriously by VWoA, and by extension, should be taken seriously by VAG globally. If the issue is eventually addressed over there, then it will be much simpler for us to demand the fix in Australia.Originally posted by DermotTo the best of my knowledge that TSB is specific to the North American market and has no relevance anywhere else in the world....
Like Corey said, I would love to know whether it's been fixed in the MY11 2.0T. If so, then we may also have a easier argument.GTI MKVI Candy White | 5 door | DSG | ACC | 18" Detroits | Leather | Electric Seat | Sunroof | RNS510 | Dynaudio | Park Assist | RVC | MDI

Why not just get a copy of the TSB and pay for the actuator weight or whatever it is and get it done somewhere yourself? It's a minor/sound characteristic that doesn't hurt the car or engine in any way, but understand could be annoying for some people (like wearing glasses if you are aware of them).Originally posted by ddre78 View PostNo relevance?! Still a bit poor if it's being sorted out in the US and not here, and they get the cars for half price.

I will be doing exactly that, however, in my opinion the weight on the actuator wont fix the problem, just change the sound and confirm that the actuator is indeed the problem. Then what?Originally posted by G-rig View PostWhy not just get a copy of the TSB and pay for the actuator weight or whatever it is and get it done somewhere yourself?

I picked up my GTI just over a week ago and it has the rattle. Thanks Guy. I notice on that Vortex page that they're saying it has been "fixed" for 2011. Does this mean MY11 cars? If so, is there anyone on here with an MY11 GTI who has this rattle? That'd be interesting to find out!MY21 Golf MK8 GTI | Kings Red Metallic | all options |

- Measure
Do not repair, the noises are construction-related and normal. There is no parts damage.

This is no fault in the sense of waranty.

I gave my grandmother a lift to and from the doctor's office today and since I was driving sedately and had the music down very low (as you do when your grandmother is the passenger), the rattle was very noticeable. At one point, mid-conversation, she pipes up and says "y'know it sounds like you got a bad tank of fuel".
My grandmother.
Anyone who suggests that we should let this go has rocks in their head.GTI MKVI Candy White | 5 door | DSG | ACC | 18" Detroits | Leather | Electric Seat | Sunroof | RNS510 | Dynaudio | Park Assist | RVC | MDI

I've just ordered a GTI, will be a 2011 build and I really hope they have sorted this. I didn't realise how bad it was but I just watched a video (YouTube - Audi A3 8P - dziwny metaliczny d) and can say that sound would do my head in. Optioning the Dynaudio was probably a good idea, I'm gonna want that thing on 11 at all times.

haha good point. I found the vid in a vortex thread about the 2.0T rattle (linked from this thread).Originally posted by Corey_R View PostFor one... it's a 1.9L Diesel motor....
I searched that thread looking for the reference that the issue is fixed in the '11 builds but didn't find anything. Fingers crossed. My car isn't due till May so I'm sure someone will get an earlier '11 build who can report back.
