Errr....hey guys - in the Golf R - is there a cup holder? I've owned the car for less than 12hrs - and this morning I did my usual routine (stopped by my local coffee shop, picked up a jumbo latte to sip on the drive into work) - and.... I couldn't find a cup holder. And don't tell me it's that thing behind the DSG stick with the slidy lid - cause that's not a cup holder...that's a disaster waiting to happen if you put takeaway mug in there. My car: MY18 Arteon

Yep, the slidy thing behind the DSG, but you have to take out the bottle opener and use it as a cup divider - this keeps the cups in place.
It's not too bad, my daily coffee stays in place, although if too full and I traffic light GP then it can spill out the top!MY11.5 Golf R - Candy White 5 door - still giggling like a child when I drive it!

Take some time and read the manual from cover to cover, there is heaps of information in there that will come in handy (including on cupholders).Originally posted by DreamensioN View PostAhh ok - I didn't see the bottle opener (haven't really had time yet to have a good look through the car). Errr, may hold them but too shallow for spirited drivingOriginally posted by Corey_R View PostAnd I can confirm that the cup holders hold takeaway drinks (ranging from coffee to large MacDonalds/Jacks softdrinks etc) fine.

It's another government stuffup just like the digital tv changeover where early adopters of set top boxes got screwed when the government kept delaying cutoff dates. The date for the final changeover to digital will keep getting pushed back, the expansion will be delayed and towards the end pensioners will receive free DAB+ units for their cars.Originally posted by poli84 View PostI actually attended a DAB+ conference last Friday.
There are 2 main types of Digital Radio.
DAB (been around in the UK and Germany since 2003).
DAB+ which has been available in Australia for around 18 months and is available in all capital cities.
The service will drastically be improved over the coming years with much better coverage.
BMW has DAB+ as an option on 5 and 7 series already.Just last year, Germany switched over to DAB+ so in the coming years, it won't be anything out of the ordinary for VW group cars (and all other German cars) to come with the factory fitted DAB+ radios that work very well in Australia.
Currently, there are no cars in Australia that come with DAB+ from the factory.
BMW is tipped to be the first with some on their way.
Manufacturers are not going to offer it as an option until final cutover dates are set in stone as are coverage plans because at the moment they keep changing. The government needs to pull it's finger out and get digital running across Australia asap and offer incentives to manufacturers to offer this as standard in their cars. Until this happens it will drag out for many years.website: www.my-gti.com

Ok.... am I missing a bit? This is what I have in my slidey-lid thing behind the DSG lever.
It looks like there's suppose to be a bottle opener in there. This is probably why I couldn't figure it out this morning.
