Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well I've had the R now for 6 weeks and its going in for its 15000km service next week. I just wanted to report that as far as reliability and little quirks, the car has been almost faultless. Not a drop of oil has been used (weird) and it hasn't missed a beat.
The only little quirk its had so far, and I'll point out now that its only happened on two occasions..... is that the DSG has dropped out of gear. Both times when accelerating in D mode. Once when accelerating out of a round about it lost gear and revved out to red-line, a slight lift off of the accelerator fixed the problem but still a bit odd i thought.
Maybe I'll get a software update on the DSG box at service?
Anyone else had any odd issues prior to first service???
And yeah auto recirc for the win! although I have mine down at 21 up here in the North!2007 Golf GT Sport TDi sold!
2011 Golf R 3 door Candy White with all the non carbon fibre fruit !

I've had the DSG drop out twice as above, the paddles stopped working until engine stop/start once (was bizarre, I could change into sport or D mode no worries, but the paddle presses did nothing) and finally today I had cruise control on and had to overtake so I planted it to the floor with nil result. by this time I was in the right most lane still going the cruise speed, with my foot planted and no additional acceleration.
took foot off, pumped accelerator again to the floor and took off, but was a bit disconcerting at the time.

I've had the DSG miss a gear a few times now. Has always been coming out of a corner in D and doesn't know whether to downshift to 2 or stay in 3. MFD says its in 3 but lack of forward progress and hitting redline tells me its in neutral.Golf R 5 door, DSG, EVOMS CAI, TXS DP, Recode Tune.

For reference, my car spot at work has a spare one to the right, then a pillar. To the right of that is the in/out lane for my level and I'd guess it's a bit wider than 2 standard car spots. From my spot I can't, in one move, exit the car park; I have to 3 point turn it... it's a small price to pay for such an awesome car, but I can officially say it's a daily annoyance for me.
