Bastard! It wasn't until after I'd ordered my R that I found out how cheap you could buy the RNS510 on EBay for a self install...sure as hell would have been better than paying VW $2500 for one!

When I ordered my GTI they gave me a free AWD system. I couldn't work out why I wasn't getting wheelspin until I found my Haldex underneath!

Any R owners know how to turn on the little lamp below the Xenons?

On the GTI, the parking lights activate them but on the R the LEDs light up instead.

Also, having them in white looks pretty darn cool:

That's the like which was originally intended to be the DRL.
However, the MK6 Xenon headlight was a case of form over function, as it turned out to be too small and not bright enough. Hence why GTI's ended up having their Xenon as the DRL and the R got a LED Stripe.

I should check this, but if you turn the headlight switch all the way to the right, and pull it out one notch, doesn't that turn on the "park" lights which is what these are?

no... that turns on the rear fog light...

Anyone else noticed that the exhausts open up after a couple thou k's?
Initially, only one flap was open at idle/startup (didn't check it after hard driving), but now i've broken it in a bit, both flaps/exhausts are open all the time.

Makes the exhaust sound much deeper (which others have also reported) but makes me question what the flapper mod was all about though?

Ahh, second notch out on the Tiggy was the rear fogs, and first notch is front fogs, but haven't actually checked to see what it does on the R yet.

It is a port to the drivers side of the coin holder in the armrest and it has a cable attached which allows you to connect a usb device. wont work with IPhone, you need a different cable, but VW spare parts sell them.

I notice Halo also had chosen Bluetooth, so I wonder if it has something to do with the Factory having to install BT. maybe they have to do MDI if you request BT, and they dont mention it knowing that most buyers will probably select both options anyway.?????

I wonder if Dermot can confirm?

am looking for some good websites for wheels that will fit R.
I have trolled wheels pic thread but little info on where to look for wheels.
All the local tyre places look at me with blank expressions when I mention its a VW. lots of options for Commodes and Falcoons.

Is offset 45?

FWIW I am looking for a 18" wheel predominately in red and black.

Haha that's MDI for sure! They must have accidentally installed it! Lucky you!

I have BT but no MDI. More than happy with the SD Card =)

I've also asked the service advisor & service manager at Barloworld and they never knew this light existed lol....

I would be very interested to change the LED DRLs on the R to a brighter and whiter one (similar to Audi's) when an aftermarket one comes out.

I dislike the yellowish colour of the current one.

The Golf R doesn't have front fogs, so presumably the switch only pulls out one notch. Current cars equipped with front and rear foglights have a switch that operates as per your Tig.
