    • Apparantly not as toasty as if you were in a Porsche Panamera - TG Blooper video

But , honestly it is the best additive I have used before.
have tried bug off, and products by mazda and Subaru, and this stuff is (or at least seems to be) much better at cleaning and no streaking.
The VW one smells nice and clean too!

The guys in the detailing forum warn against alcohols and other solvents due to the damage it causes to the paintwork, rubber and plastic parts of the car. So stick with the VW stuff.

Also, you can get the VW stuff from places like ECS tuning (if you're buying other stuff at the same time).
Yeah I use the VW additive to condition the wipers once a fortnight.

        • So with the windscreen washer fluid, is it the SAME stuff as you get from the factory?

Reason I ask, incase anyone hasn't noticed, the factory stuff smells so damn pleasant when you use it! So does the dealer stuff still smell nice?

I say this cause on the BMW, it smelled almost, if not exactly, the same as the VW factory stuff. Only thing is, once you have used up all the factory delivered goodness.. That's it! You can't get the nice smelling stuff again.. Unless you buy a new car!!

There is actually threads on this already for the BMW when I checked.. My sister got me some stuff when she audited a BMW dealership.. And yep.. It's just regular ass windscreen stuff = no smell.

          • I think I drive like my Grandma....

Service indicator in my R tells me the next service is due in 16000 km or 389 days. I've done 3600km over 3months which means I could have the first service after 19000+km...

I wonder why they leave this service indicator on when you need to service after 15000km in Oz???

              • Does your R not show the service interval display in the MDI??

                • Sure it does. But in Australia we don't do the "variable" servicing (forget the VW name for it). It should have been set to 7,500km/186 days or 15,000/365 days.

                    Yeah same smell mate.

Maverick's website says that it's approximately $7 but I was charged $15 by Barloworld...perhaps I got conned big time!

                    • It's available from ECS Tuning for quite a bit cheaper than here. If you were ordering something from there and added it onto your order the shipping probably would be fine... but on its own it'd be a killer.

I find the car is toasty warm all the time! Can't say I've owned any other car which got so warm inside without the heater on. I leave the fan on lowest temp with no a/c to the footwell area otherwise it gets really warm down there and always have the sunroof popped up.

I'm experiencing the same issue too. No a/c on, fan running with internal circulation switched off (so ambient temp air from the outside should be coming in) and the air is warm. Perhaps the engine gets really hot and indirectly heats up the air coming in?

This could be really good during winter though!

                          • So it is the same nice smelling stuff?! Cool.. might let the BMW boys know!

PS the GOLF is definitely toasty inside and unless its <20 deg you need windows down.

The windscreen just fogs up so hard, it aint pretty.

I've applied some RainX onto the windscreen. Have yet to experience a night cold enough for it to fog up again. Will keep you posted.
