Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • I've had that beep a few times - but only on my spirited drives through the mountains. It always puzzled me. First I thought it was the bluetooth telling me I had received an SMS or email, and then another time I thought it was informing me when the oil temp reach 100 degrees (both times this was obviously coincidental).

Pepe's explanation however makes perfect sense - since the GPS will occasionally go adrift when going down a mountain with massive trees everywhere.
Some say he was the Stig... all we know is that he drives a VW Transporter.

From the Map screen, choose Extras, then the Split Screen option, and one of the split screen views gives you GPS coordinates and satellite lock.

I know its done and dusted but I love when people use the resale thing for choosing options. To put it bluntly.... Fark the buyers in 2+ years time. If they want xyz option they can a) find another car, b) fit it themselves, c) not be such a tightarse and pay the depreciation on a new car!

Have noticed a few more R's getting around lately, white and silver seem to be most common...boring people lol

          • Yes I saw 2 other R's in Melbourne in the last two days - another white one in Kangaroo Ground and I pulled up at the lights next to a UG one this morning on Doncaster Rd.

No one with an R can be classified as boring......

            • I drove past a 'black on white' R on the Monash FWY this morning approaching the tunnel. Number plate ended in something like 587, in case it's one of you lot. I was in the right lane behind a noisy old black Skyline (modded exhaust).

              • yeah... there is two R's which I've been driving past for days before a friend pointed out that they've been there for a while.... both 5 door with silver talladegas, one white, one silver. The silver looks boring no matter what's done to it. The white looks good as a 3 door with black wheels... but 5 door and silver wheels... ZZZzzzzzzzzz

                • Subtle maybe, not boring. You can fool a few other cars at the lights with the suble look.

I see a Silver 5 dr R around doncaster shopping centre all the time and it requires a 2nd or 3rd look to confirm its an R and not a 118TSI lol

According to this : CarBuddy.com.au - Car Specifications - 2010 FORD TERRITORY the turning circle on a Territory is 11.4m!
                                Hmmmm, Interesting.
So it appears that having 19's will increase your turning circle by around 2 (two) metres. Wow!
No wonder you guys with 19's are crying about your turning ability.
