Let me know if you wanted the part number.

Seeking Car Bra for my R
Hi fellow Dubbers
I am seeking a car bra for my new R. I have rang Carbra (Vic) and Carbras (NSW) and they say they are waiting for someone with an R to visit them so they can measure. I live in western Qld and would really love to preserve the front of my R for future resale value (derrrr)
Does anybody know if I can purchase a very well fitting, non-paint scratching and removing car bra or front end protector from please?
Regards

Unfortunately doesn't look as though there is one available for the R as yet so Ventureshield will be your best option and probably the only one at the moment.MY11 Golf R - Rising Blue - 5DR - DSG - 19" Black OZ Ultralegerra - Leather - Sunroof - MDI - Euro Plates - Milltek Exhaust - Bluefin - SOLD

So where did you take your New Golf R on that long haul trip
A number of folk have been luckily enough to take delivery of their new Golf Rs and started running them in. I expect that most would have completed the 1st service 1000 kays in the first week. So that now leaves the perfect timing of the Holidays.. where did you take your Beast and what experiences did it provide.. good and bad stories are appreciated
Can it take the long trip well, does the engine note get to you, does the DSG falter on the uphill twisties, what fell off and off course what got betterCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

There is no 1000km service....
The first service is 15,000km - or 7,500 if used in "extreme conditions".
On the first day I had it, I drove it up the Bells Line Of Road to Lithgow, and back via the Great Western Highway. Since then I haven't had a chance to do a car trip, with the holidays and the excessive traffic on the roads and all.
I've driven from Sydney to Brisbane with a single 20 min stop in my MKV GTI, so can't see the MK6 R being any different (with its identical ergonomics and seats).
The engine note is great. Plus, it shuts up when you're just crusing..
DSG is fantastic... on uphill twisties if you're in Auto mode, then it does auto things. In manual mode it is up to you...
Nothing has fallen off... (lol)
Engine is losening up, it's getting better every day.

Great feedback.. I am confusing the services with the "take it easy" period of 1000 - 1500. Very interesting that the engine drone drops away when it is cruising.. Please elaborate on the DSG expereince, My experience has been positive the the few test drives but all this background chatter has you second guessing.. I am guessing there is the "lag" ussue on up hillk twisties and you just jump in with the manual controls.. I think you indicated a paddle mod, does this make that much of a differenceCurrent Ride: MY 16 Daytona Pearl Grey Audi S3- Performance Pack 1, Sunroof and Driver assist

The GTI and R have paddels behind the wheel as standard (with DSG), and all cars have sequential manual as well (some would say the +/- is the wrong way around, but that's been discussed previously).
If I upshift in sequential manual there is a slight lag (about half a second or more), but I only use that when driving in the hills behind slower traffic so that it doesn't keep shifting down, encouraging me to speed up. Because I don't have paddels, and I prefer the sequential to be the other way around, I just put the shifter into Sport mode and leave it at that. I have a gaming PC with a number of racing simulators (GT5 is pretty good too) and use a Logitech G25 which has a H shifter and clutch pedal, so I use that when wanting to drive a fast manual sports car. It's not the same, but it's still fun - but I will say that ever since getting my Golf I hardly used the PC for driving - instead clocking up 9,000 k's in 3 months (when previously I only averaged 10,000 per year).
The main lag that people with DSG talk about it when moving forwards from standstill. It feels like a flat-spot in the pedal, where you push the accelerator and nothing happens for half a second. It's really annoying at first, and then you start to adapt to it by accelerating before you have to, but it makes split-second acceleration decisions near impossible (maybe that's a good thing sometimes). Getting an APR Stage 1 tune installed however removes this take-off lag.
