Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Both passenger & driver leather seats should match, please post up a pic.

      • thanks Capercat, yes both seats should be the same, TIGHT. Not with big pucker running diagonally across the seat!!!! I'll hold my ground, one of the advantages of Financing outside the Dealership. I control final payment and have already told bank to hold off until I ok transfer. I'm not expecting a fight here, the Dealer is/has been very responsive in past purchases.

          • They're still an LCD. It's just the change from CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) to LED backlighting... but I've been told that the change apparently came with the change of button labels...

That makes sense cos all the eBay items mention a star button or something. Its on the to-do list of things (along with euro plates, holders or even a car wash lol) once I get sick of driving around

Have you 2 blokes got an update yet?

Back in June when i got my R, RACV had to do the policy as an R32.

This morning i decided to call them to see if the have the R listed yet and alter my policy.
The Golf R Mk6 doesnt even exist as far as they are concerned...WTF.
                  Hi Fab,
I recently took out RACV cover with agreed value on new R.
Very reasonable compared to Shannons and QBE - but I have other cover with them.

davka, i think in weewilly's case, his age (no offense to weewilly) and possibly good driving record may have something to do with it being sub $450.

+1! I just paid mine over the phone. $1290 NRMA with perfect record thus far, good area, 29 yo. I did get the hire car and windshield cover plus $800 excess.

AAmI was 70 cheaper but meh.

About the same with GIO minus the car hire but my decorated history isn't quite 5yrs old yet. Oddly enough AAMI was about $400 less! Though still not worth it!

                              Anyway, I'll add some observations...

Took a mate for a drive last night and found a couple corners that under load the front tyres would scrub a bit inside the guards under acceleration at full lock. Same thing again with ACC in sport and no scrubbing at all. Makes it just that little bit firmer that it doesn't roll as much into the corner. Feels like it has more grip too because you don't hear/feel the tyres really struggling like I'd noticed before. Maybe with less movement in the suspension, it makes a fair difference.

Not scientific, just seat of the pants feel. Could be full of **** but no one said my observation had to be right

Thanks for the update, maybe a set of sways is all that's needed to dial out understeer with an ACC equipped R.
