The aftermarket DSG paddles are a must, it's really made manual mode so much more useable. The majority of my driving is in manual now.
Can you tell me more about the aftermarket paddles and why they make it more usable? Where did you get them? Which version if there are more than one?
I tried a search without much success.

There is information and pictures in a previous "group buy" thread which I organised here.
It may seem a strange request but are there any simple mods to reduce the noise of the Golf R.
My daughter is very unhappy that I wake her each morning when I leave for work and that her whole room vibrates whenever I reverse into the drive.
Maybe don't use launch control driving out of your garage every morning?
On a serious note... sounds silly, but have you tried reversing the direction you park your car in the garage/driveway? If you keep the pipes pointed away from the house, it might reduce the noise a bit. Not sure it'll do much for the vibration though.
so can anyone else who has an R on order confirm what i'm about to say? i've heard that a.) all current R orders are filled for next batch due into australia, and b.) theres a delay on current orders for those due at end of year...particularly on DSGs. pushing delivery date to maybe late Jan?
I was sent the following email by my dealer this week.
"Loaded on a ship yesterday, ship is due to leave port on the 7th of Oct and dock in Melbourne on the 20th of Nov. Then 2 weeks to go through bond,a few days to get here and another couple of days to get ready for delivery. So should be Mid Dec."
Mine is DSG with the works, so I'm not sure if that helps.
United Grey R: All the accessories (leather, not Recaro's though), S2P paddles, Kuftech DVD in motion. Carbon grill, mirrors and diffuser awaiting to be fitted.
I'm not sure that you could say that the delay is in "DSGs". Mine is a DSG as well, and it's almost through production.
But yes, the current batch was sold out a while back, although I'm not really sure whether any forum member actually knows when the next batch will go through, or even if there will be a large delay until the next batch like there was for this round
