I can highly recommend NOT going with the Recaro's to anyone who is thinking about pulling the trigger. They kill my back.
In other words - test for yourself, because everyone is different. The last thing you want to do is spend $60k on a car which puts you in tears every time you drive it because the seat is not suited to you. So test for yourself

Are they really that hard?? I thought comfort would be unquestionable?

It's nothing to do with how hard they are. It's just the shape and adjustability of them is all.
There's a reason that in higher end cars you have a choice of 3 different seats which are all the same price. It's because no seat is "best" for everyone. Which leads me to this...
The recaros don't tilt+slide forward which makes it harder to get into the back if you have a 3 door Golf.
For me this is a non-issue but I do agree that the recaros don't suit everyone. The best bet is to find a demo with recaros and come to your own conclusion. For me this wasn't an option otherwise I would still be waiting upon delivery.

Yeah I bought a 3 door Golf with Recaros. On it's way to Melbourne now. Too late to change/don't want to change anyway.
The seats still slide when you pull the lever beneath it right?
I understand from a post by Corey_R circa 21/11/10
"MY11 Changes Relevant to Golf R (Week 22, 2010) - Hill Start Assist (HSA) is now standard for all manual models"
So how do I get HSA to work on my manual R?
In my garage: Golf R20 Rising Blue, 5dr, 6sp man, Leather, Sunroof, Sat Nav, Bluetooth, DynAudio, MDI & Roof Racks for my board!
if its anything like the mk5, it engages when you release the brake pedal on an incline. you'll know its activated when you press the brake again and it feels solid.
