Hey Im not regretting not signing up for a Sirocco at all. Its a FWD, and its more of a particular "style" of car. It looks hot, but not for me. I like the more conservative look of the R, and ofcourse, the AWD.Originally posted by den525 View PostAnyone regret that they are getting/got the golf R when the better scirocco R is coming to Australia?? lol
How is the Pirelli going?

Looking for some quick info on the Golf R
It's taken 3 years, but I have finally decided to upgrade from my Mazda 6 MPS (bad experience with warranty). My biggest problem was that I was torn between 2 cars... the R and a Nissan 300Z. Honestly, I want the 300Z, but the car has a number of issues which I'm not sure I could live with. The R also has a number of things that I want that the Z doesn't have. Of course, I can get the Z tomorrow... the R... who knows
I am looking at getting a 3dr, DSG, with Sat Nav... either Rising Blue or United Grey.
My questions.
Is there any point getting the MDI interface if I have no intention of using an Ipod/Iphone or USB device (I'll be using the SatNav hard drive to store MP3s)?
I can tolerate music coming from a crappy clock radio, so is the Bose system worth the extra $1000 for my ears (considering that I'll be listening to MP3s that are by definition, musically 'diluted'... oh, and I'm not a 'doof doof, need that bass' kind of guy)?
If I trade my car in, I take it that the dealership won't be able to give me a value until the car actually arrives from Germany and is near ready to go?
Do VW offer any attractive finance options, or am I better off sorting it out myself?
One more question... I'm looking at buying near the Parramatta area. Is there a 'preferred' dealer that others have had good experiences with?
Thanking you in advance.

Yup - went out and saw my car on Saturday, dealer said it will be ready for me to pick up this afternoon!Originally posted by REXman View PostLMAO I agree! Are you really on tomorrow!? I am awaiting a call. I got told a call will be placed on Monday to me, so we'll see what happens.
I need four doors and I don't think I'd ever buy a non-AWD car any more, so in my opinion the Scirocco R is not better.Originally posted by den525 View PostAnyone regret that they are getting/got the golf R when the better scirocco R is coming to Australia?? lol

Welcome to the forums. I merged your thread here. Post in the correct place and you'll often get your answers quicker!Originally posted by starionx View PostIt's taken 3 years, but I have finally decided to upgrade from my Mazda 6 MPS (bad experience with warranty). There won't be any benefit for you. The SatNav HDD allows 18GB of storage. You also have the SD slot which accepts 32GB (~30GB real) cards. If you get Bluetooth (which I recommend as its only $550 and integrates perfectly with the steering wheel controls, MFD and SatNav), then you'll also have A2DP streaming from any bluetooth device which supports audio streaming (iPhone, many other phones etc). You'll also have the traditional 3.5mm audio jack. However, bluetooth streaming and the audio jack cannot be controlled via steering wheel controls - which is where the MDI comes in....Originally posted by starionx View PostMy questions.

If you can tolerate music from a crappy clock radio, then maybe the Dynaudio system isn't worth the extra $1000 for you. However, be clear, the Dynaudio system has nothing to do with "doof doof". In fact, it has no subwoofer at all. It's much more suited to "real" types of music. As for MP3s, if you make them correctly then it'll use enough bitrate to be so close that you'd never tell the difference in the crappy audio environment that is a car anyway....Originally posted by starionx View PostI can tolerate music coming from a crappy clock radio, so is the Bose system worth the extra $1000 for my ears (considering that I'll be listening to MP3s that are by definition, musically 'diluted'... oh, and I'm not a 'doof doof, need that bass' kind of guy)?
As is the dealers right...Originally posted by starionx View PostIf I trade my car in, I take it that the dealership won't be able to give me a value until the car actually arrives from Germany and is near ready to go?
What's attractive? You'd need to investigate this yourself. Many dealerships have their own finance through respective partners too.Originally posted by starionx View PostDo VW offer any attractive finance options, or am I better off sorting it out myself?
At Parramatta you have Denlo Volkswagen. I purchased my car(s) from there. Give Jadd (9828 9493) a call and tell him that I referred you to him. If he gives you no joy, then give Mathew Gazzard (9411 5888 ) from Chatswood Classic Cars and tell him that I referred you to him and Denlo didn't give you any joy! lolOriginally posted by starionx View PostOne more question... Chatswood Classic Cars was previously crap. But several of the key members of Denlo have moved to Chatswood to help revive that dealership, and things are looking good.

Pirelli is going well, not upgrading to R because it is practically the same car just without the AWD...Originally posted by REXman View PostHey Im not regretting not signing up for a Sirocco at all. I'm guessing you've owned awd wrx before, hence why you love your awd?
I love the look of the scirocco R, just an amazing looking car.
Well true some people need 4 doors, 2 doors aren't practical for everyone. AWD imo makes the car less fun in day to day driving. it makes it boring. might perform better, but the look of scirocco R?? yummmmmmOriginally posted by simonm View PostI need four doors and I don't think I'd ever buy a non-AWD car any more, so in my opinion the Scirocco R is not better.

Not me. Dislike FWD and don't like the look of them at all.Originally posted by den525 View PostAnyone regret that they are getting/got the golf R when the better scirocco R is coming to Australia?? lol
Was yours on the MC as well? My dealer must be one of them lazy bastards that outsource the pre delivery stuff because I can't pick it up until Thursday at the earliest!Originally posted by simonm View PostYup - went out and saw my car on Saturday, dealer said it will be ready for me to pick up this afternoon!

I had my R on the MC, and the dealer had it ready for me within 3 days of it hitting Melbourne. To bad my work stuffed up the paperwork (after I asked them to check it several times) and as a result I wont be able to get my hands on it for another 2 weeks after I move to Brisbane. I think it's worse now I have had a chance to sit in it, but at least the dealership has allowed me to send it off to Phatt Audio Concepts to install a custom Sub and dynamat, as well as getting my paddles installed and Kuftek Video In Motion.United Grey R: All the accessories (leather, not Recaro's though), S2P paddles, Kuftech DVD in motion. Carbon grill, mirrors and diffuser awaiting to be fitted.

Yep. Previously purchased from Denlo. Ordered from Chatswood Classic now and yes I noticed there are a lot of ex-Denlo Parramatta folks there now.Originally posted by Corey_R View PostChatswood Classic Cars was previously crap.
