  • Wonder if the TPMS and audio issues are related

    Flakey

    • Could it be related to temperature - a long drive at high speeds might have an effect?

        • Not sure what caused it. I have quite a few long distant trips with no issue before.

Can't take it the the dealer to check as everything is now ok.

          Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

          • I'll request a full check when we get back and a reload of the HU firmware

Might check codes on the P3 tonight

            • iirc the sensors don't measure pressure but the rolling circumference from the ABS. I could enable the function on my car as well despite not having the reset button, just means I'd always have to use VCDS to reset it.

              • Correct

                Most use this cheaper method

Never had a problem in the GTI

Oh well, it is a VW

yes, and they monitor by detecting a discrepancy of the rotational speed of the wheels on the same side of the car. hence, heavy cornering with a bit of sideways action in the GTI sets them off.. hard bumps do also.

Sounds like it's too finely tuned setup. Too instant in any changes occurring although I can see the benefits of this I guess.

                      • i think I read somewhere a 25% pressure change in any one tyre was required to set the system off...

That's alot isn't it. That equates to 10psi in my case.

                          • Entice has it spot on.....difference in rim speed sets it off as a 'please check'. It's in the manual that the TPMS has '3 settings'

I was on the F3 last year.....3 adults, 1 kid and dog with the boot full (and heavy) thanks to long Easter weekend.....TPMS went off.....

My wife decided to RTFM after a visual check by me....explained it well.

                            • Well I have been spoilt the last few days. Got to drive the R along the Great Ocean Road in Vic a few times, taking the kids down to stay with some friends in Lorne. So after dropping them off the drive home on a weeknight around 9pm was alot of fun. Was able to give it a squirt on the run back through the windy corners without going too overboard, esp near any blind corners or with other cars nearby.

Anyway not having a much of a reference point (other than my old Skyline R32 GTS-t), I have to say the R felt quite nimble and planted to the road when the DSG and ACC are in sport mode. I love the tight direct steering feel you get when the ACC is in sport mode. Also of note the brakes are much better than any other cars I have owned. Being able to brake so much later coming into corners and feel confident about it was a great feeling. Yeah I know its no GTR or Evo performance but still the R does a very solid job all round, in comfort too and felt great on a road like that.

Can only imagine how much fun a Nissan R35 GTR would be down the GOR tho. One of the great drives of the world
