Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Yeah - I get what you're saying, but I was talking base prices - there is $12k difference (well, $11,500 to be exact). I'm well aware that you can option many cars to the hilt (since I created the spreadsheet and all), but if all you want is a raw street racer, you don't need all the options, and therefore there is an $11,500 difference. If you don't want a raw road racer, why are you even considering the Focus RS, and then the point becomes moot

    • ccoops79 I ordered a Golf R 3 door in Candy white
      DSG
      ACC
      RVC
      MDI
      Talladega 19's in black
      Sunroof
      bluetooth and leather

And I'm here to tell you that that pricing calculator is about 5-6 grand out, out on road for me low $60's No trade in taken into account and I did get a corporate discount however that still doesn't make up for the discrepancy
2007 Golf GT Sport TDi sold!

      • I created the pricing calculator. Its purpose is to calculate the RRP of the car, not your drive away price after negotiations. (Although it will tell you what % discount your negotiated price means based on RRP).

For example, you purchased a 3 Door R with DSG in QLD.
Without options the VW Australia site says the car is: $56,282.90 (since it doesn't account for options).
The calculator spreadsheet says the same car is: $56,283.01 - only 11c difference.

It's quite possible that both the VW Australia site and the spreadsheet is out by a few hundred now due to possible fee changes now that it's a new financial year... but it definitely should not be 5-6 grand out.

But if you can please PM me the details of how you calculate that it's not accurate, and I'll look into it and correct it for you.

Was that a wet finger in the air week 38 or have you seen an update in NADCON? Last check on mine still had no further info.

It's accurate in VIC at least, well depending on which dealer you talk to LOL. One matched up with the calc give or take $20 and another was a good $1000 more. Might be sneaky tactics or the diff in their DD charges, who knows.

Yeah - dealer delivery can vary from dealer to dealer. This also affects LCT and Stamp Duty in most states. The dealer delivery figure used is based on the VW Australia website pricing (where I think that they've averaged it, or something like that).

The calc is obviously based on RRP. Coreying has not put together a sheet that guesses discounts. It was accurate for me. And seems spot on with the website/taxes.

              • That's an impressive price bordering on charity, are they making anything at all? I thought I got an awesome deal and that was through a fleet company.

Angryman has kindly sent me the break-down of his quote. As many who used my spreadsheet back in June when the R came out know, the spreadsheet is usually accurate within a few cents or dollars... well, turns out the change in financial year has changed that! hehe
I'll update it in the next few days and upload a new version which takes into account changes at state and federal levels (registration, insurance, stamp duty and LCT changes!). Even without those changes, it was still only $106.82 out on Angryman quote when the discounts and onroads he received were placed into the correct boxes.

                  Thanks everyone

Another night owl, I must be getting old cos these late nights are doing my head in! Why don't you get an R36, put a mattress in the back and then no need for the unit lol. With Sydney prices, it'd work out a hell of a lot cheaper!

Oh better mention something R related cos coreying doesn't like us talking **** in here
Has anyone noticed that their are **** all R's on the road? Other than in a dealer, I've seen only ONE R on the road and it was a boring silver 5dr one at that!

                          • Man. late nights.. My brains still going out clubbing, but I havent been out in like 5 years.. and Im firmly in my desk chair lol. hey tell the golf r to come on down so i can stop foruming so hard and get driving!

First one I have seen, non-dealer, was a blue one at darling harbour just this weekend. but it was dirty and had roof racks - so It didnt excite me much about my purchase (im getting the same car). So i went home and looked at some clean photos just to make sure I hadnt made a boo-boo. hahaha..

The thing is the loonger I wait for my R, the more Im doing my head in with colours and options etc..

I've only seen one on the road here in Perth and i only caught a quick glimpse of it as we passed it at an intersection. To be honest i haven't really seen that many MkVI Gti's around here either.
