Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

My doors are fine, no tennis elbow yet at 2000kms.
        -------------------------------------

Concur - no tennis elbow at 7800kms either . I have found my feet rest comfortably on the foot pedal (left) and I rest my right leg on the bottom door sil. While driving I bring the console up and extended for comfy left arm and rest my right arm on the door sil. Very comfy LOL - I have also found the motor is getting stronger since picking up the car and the DSG box is freeing up.

Although one question to my fellow DSG'ers... Do you find after reversing and putting into D then accelorating a little too hard, some times the DSG goes into neutral and the motor revs. Take foot off accelorator and back on again - all good????? Anybody found this happen to them.

Must admit I love the low drone when you take off slowly. Yep loving my R

Yes, there is discussion about that in the DSG thread. (Last 5 or so pages)

its a great car no question, loving the Black. You mentioned reversing and then D mode, there is something going on there now that you mention it. Just came back from seeing a client, backed out and gave it a bit in D... seemed rough, non-responsive, kinda out of whack. came right with a heavier foot. I have also experienced a slight slip after reversing....

Yeah not around much myself, headed to the beach for 2 weeks. Had it done but IMO the change isn't as dramatic as the fanboys will have you believe. Its not really noticeable at lower RPM. Have to line up my mates TT-RS which I used to benchmark when stock so that will be the ultimate decider. Will report back when I have a chance to test it. Already tried another mates RS5 and couldn't beat him on the run from any speed hehe. Haven't tried with LC yet just for ****s and giggles anyway

Yeh 88 is cruising temp but I've seen mine above 100 heaps of times. Sits around 105 when doing continuous shenanigans, guess some of you blokes would have been ok with 118TSI's to putt around in

Yeah sure is...they replace the faulty "Check Valve" which is allowing water to get past it wen not squirting.

It is done off site and not at the dealers - (panel shop job as the rear spoiler has to be cut off - they are glued on)

                        • Hey Guys.
I'm looking at buying a GTech-Pro RR Fanatic from the USA. It's the new version of what Fab_R has along with some added features. It's US$299.95
There's also the version without the track logging capabilities called the GTech-Pro Model SSfor US$199.95 - I'm pretty sure this is the exact replacement to Fab_R's.

Anyway, their only decent shipping option is UPS Worldwide Expedited and is US$98.67 for one, or US$111.31 for two, or US$135.94 for three. Are one or two of you guys interested in splitting an order with me?

Edit: If I go ahead, it'll be in the next few days

                          • Hi Corey,
I'm interested (in the Pro Model SS)
How would I go about paying you?
Also, I'm not exactly in your neighbourhood (north Qld) so I would have to add on freight from your place to here?
                            Cheers,
                            Graeme.
                            Why a Golf R?
For the days when you just can't be bothered getting the Veyron out of the garage.

Thats right, but why would you want improvement in lower RPM's? The 20%+ is in the mid range where the lag (was) in D. I wanted to see an improvement there, I was told there would be an improvement there, there is an improvement there. S mode was just a freakin' bonus. I went up to my dealer last week and sat in an R that is equipped with the standard sound system. It sounds great, is the Dynu 10 speaker better in my R? yup, was it worth the added expense, IMO yup.... but at low volume the two sound systems perform the same.
