    18's vs 19's Golf R

    Hey guys,

I've just spent the better part of today reading the Golf R thread, but can't find a definitive answer to my question.

Is there much difference between the 18's and the 19's in terms of ride quality? Ditto for 19's with ACC.

    Cheers.

well time will affect price..regardless of the release of the MK7, the mmvi GTI and R are very well priced now, I will admit I thought they would be still in the 40s after 2.5 years but are now in the low to mid 30s. On the other side there is a glut of cars in the 2nd hand market so what ever you have is going to be challenged for return.

It is a fact as soon as you buy a car it is going to be worth less so realise if it is not a practical purchase , that is you old car is shot then it is an emotional one and you need to not fret the "what if"

What do you guys reckon will happen to pricing on the Mk6's over the next few months? As I mentioned earlier I test drove a White R this week in Melbourne - would've snapped it up as it was quite cheap comparatively but the guys weren't going to give me what I wanted on the trade in's. I would've preferred the Blue colour, as well.

Once my current cars sell I'll be in the market for one, I'm assuming the pricing on Mark 6 R's will go south slightly.

I thought the drive was much better than the Scirocco and definitely a class above the GTI Mk5 I drove a year back. Although I'm also tempted to just pick up a GTI Mk6 and do the stage 1 tune thing.

One of my customer buddies is about to trade his white 6MT 3door R with black 19's in on his new Audi S3. Its basically going for trade in value if you know anyone who wants a good one. Only driven like Silverfox does too and 'almost' has the same level of tune (a bit lower actually I never upgraded it for him )
If you know anyone who wants let me know and I'll pass it on and the price is silly, only a week before its traded

Ouch... Mine is black too and love the look with euro plates.. But have to agree rising blue is the best... Will hopefully get a chance to have it detailed over the next few months, hopefully that will get the minor imperfections off the black paintwork (I think the guy who owned it before me didn't have off street parking)

After a few weeks, absolutely love the car. Can't get it out of my mind and keep reliving the long but enjoyable drive back from interstate (does that sound creepily weird?! My wife does...) still learning how to drive it well (or how far I can push it without dropping the crown jewels). Will take it to a vw/audi specialist mechanic over the next few weeks to see whether I can tighten things up a bit - the subframe clunk (or at least that's what I think it is), whilst I read is common, is driving me a bit nuts

Haha, unfortunately it is black (I like black a lot though)!

Thanks so much for your help guys - going to crunch some numbers. I could always buy an entry level'ish MKVII Golf but then I'd get bored and I just enjoy driving/cars way too much; I'd be yurning still to buy a fun car. So, as you said, it seems to tick all of the boxes (reliable, reasonably well priced, enjoyable to drive etc).

To help get back on topic, little birdy suggests checking the following things:

    - head unit (WinCE unit, looks 100% stock) isn't playing radio/ipod music during nav anymore. haven't found the setting to re-enable it
    - small dash rattle on bumpy roads (not very annoying)
    - wouldn't fill up with anything less than 98 octane due to the tune; 95 might be ok but only 98 has ever gone into it

Little birdy knows of no other issues to look for, especially if the car has always been serviced at VW (and serviced with the tune, with zero questions asked)
