The k1 clutch take up feels multi stage instead of the one smooth engagement when the car was new. There feels like three stages and the slip happens in the 2nd stage.
You mention that you didn't go for the dsg tune due to the 1st gear take off shuddering, pardon my lack of knowledge on the subject but doesn't the dsg tune alter the way the mechtronics interacts with the clutches?

Just booked in to have the car looked at @ vw church st service centre (sth yarra group). The gentleman there was quite helpful and friendly. They said they'll keep the car for the day to properly diagnose the problem. Hope they find something through their diagnostic software as the shuddering doesn't happen ALL the time.

If it has been replaced twice already and the problem Has come back, I would be arguing that under Australian consumer law, you are entitled that the product you have bought will service your needs for a reasonable amount of time. If this is the 3rd unit and is defective again (surprise surprise) then you can claim the repairs should be carried out regardless of warranty.

Not if it is a warranty repair, the new car warranty period still stands.
Mine has now been reported to the ACCC and consumer affairs Victoria.....

          • The service guys at Burwin all said the 1 year thing for me, since I was asking about purchasing the extra 2 years new car warranty.

              Good luck with it.

As for the DSG tune improving things, yes it probably would. But because I've had so many other problems with the car I've already made the decision to part ways with it So I didn't spend the $900 for the software upgrade. If I chose to keep the car, I would have no doubt that it would solve my problem today.

Not sure that I have any consumer rights other than the Sale of Goods Act and the need for the good to be of merchantable quality. Anyway, I've spent... no... wasted far too much of my time to be bothered any more. You will know what I mean when I say I've been defeated by the sheer number of times I've been to the service centre and arguments I've had with the techs in the 3.5 years of ownership. I have seriously waved the white flag. Anyway, looking to offload the car, so unfortunately my care factor is falling.

                • Ring them tomorrow or a few days later and let them know, may need to go back a couple of times for new clutch and mechatronics but once that's done and with GH software the car feels amazing.

                  • Drove into work this morning, takes about 35mins, experienced probably 1 or 2 light shudders. Quite difficult to reproduce on demand. I'd love to take it back where I'm confident I can show them the shudder. For them to dismiss there being any issue due to not be able to reproduce the shudder is totally understandable. I'm inclined to think perhaps the clutch pack is still in ok condition and that I should stop wasting time trying to prove a small problem and go directly for the hp flash. Of course starting from fresh would be fantastic - Oh and APR are having their sale again... Oh, btw - does anyone know if the shuddering can throw up any fault codes that someone with a vagcom could view? (just trying to see if there are any other ways to identify the problem to the service guys)

Has anyone come up with an explanation for the shudder? I get intermittent shudder that is hard to reproduce on que. Sometimes happens on steep right hand hills only after spirited driving. Other times no issue after spirited driving. Baby it and it rears its head randomly as well.

Sales rep said it was due to heat build up but then shouldn't I get the problem after most spirited drives?

                      • 4 months and another 15,000k later and I can feel the shudder problem coming back. I feel it whenever I push the accelerator, for a few seconds I feel the shudder. It does not matter which gear. It is more noticeable when I go uphill. I will be taking it back to the dealer.

oil temp. over / around 90C
after some start/ stop , may be 10 or 20 times.
                          shudder should come again

                          • I'm gonna get the DSG tune next week and see that goes. I do have minor shudders so it'll be a miracle cure if it disappears

Cheers, but I meant the HP DSG tune, not the VW one. I actually got the 37G7 update a few days ago, which improved shuddering on take off, but actually made other shudders more prominent.
