You could email heraldsun carsguide who are well aware of the problem and usually support causes like this. i think they are so aware of it they are recommending consumers to go for manual as opposed to DSG when completing car comparisons.

Service Campaign 37G7 - new 7spd DSG firmware improves cruise control performance

I had the DSG service campaign 37G7 (firmware update) done at the last service. I notice that when operating with cruise control active the transmission will now shift down gears to reduce speed overshoot when going down hills.

That's because the dsg has had its brain wiped and it needs to "relearn" how to behave.

37g7 (before anyone gets too excited about it) is an update to the software that tells the actuation solenoids to fully seat themselves into the home position, instead of remaining in a partial stroke position when the car is parked and switched off. That is all it does. Any other change is pure coincidence due to the memory being wiped.

Yes, I've had 37G7 for a few months and it still overshoots going downhill. I'll either downshift on the paddles or reduce the set cruise speed by a few k's.

So you believe the downshifting is associated with the adaptation process ifollowing a reflash?

More likely that the lack of downshifting is associated with the adaption process Normally it doesn't downshift down hill unless you touch the brakes (which obv kills cruise controll)

Have to say that mine is also downshifting on hills ( to 3rd ) and also shifting at higher revs ( not hitting 7th gear until i have hit 75-80kph ) since they did the update..... But yeah could simply be that I hadn't driven hilly areas as much as I have since the update.

I don't think gavs is right on this one - mine is still downshifting to hold speed going down hills on cruise control two weeks and over 800km after the reflash. Like the new feature!.

How steep is the decline? What speed limit is the road?
