thanks prodigy i spoke to dealer who talked about the 19in slowing it down according to vw .This however does not seem to be borne out by your experience and others on the site .
It is very frustrating and the inconsistency of response from dealers/vwa is disappointing to say the least .
does anyone have a no of someone to call at vwa to clarify .
i am looking for that symbol with the man beating his head against the door aaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!

You think it's frustrating for you? Try from a dealer’s point of view. Dozens of cars on order and all we can tell the customer is "We just don't know". It's a friggin nightmare trying to be a psychic and "Guess" when cars are going to arrive.
Dermot,Is there any thing in the 19 in wheel as being the holdup for my order?
I was encouraged to change to the 18 in wheel to ensure delivery.
I remain sceptical if this will have desired result but would do so if 2010 delivery was assured .
as stated in earlier posts a delay in delivery will result in forfeit of tax rebate offered in 09 which is significant to me

No Guarantee, but it is feasible. VGA may not have anticipated the demand for 19" Alloys and therefore may not have secured enough sets. Sounds dumb but it happens every day!
I didn't think so on the first drive either. But I also left it in Sport for the entire 45mins and was doing some absurdly stupid driving so the ride quality wasn't even on my mind
My 2nd drive was more relaxed (if possible haha) and as I had a friend with me, spent a bit of time being more subjective. All in all, we could not fault the car except both agreeing that when you're spending that much money you want the comfort as well for the times when you're not interested in the performance aspect.
They haven't gone into production yet but I suspect it is getting very close to no more changes. I changed colours AGAIN just the other week. Can't hurt to ask if you really want it.
I did say IMO, so really I need it is the better way of putting it. The reason I avoided the Evo/STI for similar money was that they had the performance with none of the comfort/refinement. I love the golf for being able to be fast, fun and comfortable. And just to clarify, for ME, ACC is a required part of the comfort.
Essentially, not having it doesn't make it a bad car by any means. But having it, just makes it better
I test drove a car with 19s and ACC and didn't find the comfort mode all that impressive over a rough road. I switched to sport and the difference was not significant enough for me to justify it. I am 25 and happy to take a few hard bumps... I have always had big rims and I think you just get used to having a bit more feedback through the suspension. I adapt my driving to the conditions and intentionally avoid rough roads.
On top of this, all the reviewers said the 18s had exceptional ride quality versus anything else the same size. ACC was in their opinion, not a necessary option. I took this from the NZ review, the guy drove it from end to end of NZ and said ACC was one option you didn't have to worry about ticking. Knowing NZ roads, I took his words as gospel!
I was originally going for a full spec car, but having big rims are just a nuisance.. Hitting a pothole instantly puts them out of shape, limits the traction in AWD situations where you might be offroad (dirt/snow) and the difference between 18 and 19 is NIL for driving performance. This has been tried and tested, somewhere on youtube by Japanese tyre manufacturers. 19s are only a visual improvement. It is a costly option upfront, but then more costly ongoing. Dented rims, tyres and greater possibility of scraping on roundabout edges, gutters etc.
ALSO - I have seen the rising blue with both silver and black headlight surrounds... silver just looks better finished.
So, IMO, 18s will do and give me less grief for the long term. Save some dosh people! The car has been tuned to 18in wheels...

to be honest, r down under, i think they are trying to put one over you..
i have a feeling they may have stuffed up your order and ordered 18s instead of 19s..
That sounds like a possibility. I haven't heard any story about delays due to choosing 19's, unless its black ones only?
As per another thread, my latest info received on the 19th was:
"Entry Dealer System" is 26/05/10 (aka ordered)
"Handover to Production" is 04/09/10
"Checkpoint 8 Handover to Sales" is 24/09/10
"Arrival at Final Destination" is 23/11/10
Thought this might be useful for anyone wanting to see what a few options looked like side by side on the R. Mods, feel free to move this into an existing thread if you think it would be better suited there.
At a VW dealer this morning on the never ending search for info on the MY11 Bluetooth kit (will add some info to the other thread later) and as I was leaving, drove past another RB R which was fairly stock standard, so decided to take a couple of pics for comparison purposes. Quality of pics isn't the best given it's a camera phone and I was in a hurry...
Euro vs slimline plates (NSW)
Dark vs Chrome headlights
Black 19 vs Silver 18 wheels
Sunroof vs none
