  • You just have to make sure you don't wan the seats at a later date, much more expensive to add and you won't end up getting them.

They would be dead easy to sell+swap later if for some reason you didn't want them.

I'd be very tempted to get them otherwise would get cloth as I don't see the point of leather in the R (doesnt suit imo) and it's not the best quality.

The recaros could set the car apart from the rest of the R's (which there will be many) in years to come.

    Still fairly expensive though.

    • Totally fair point and I agree with your reasoning. The point about the fact that the side airbags wouldnt be effective with those seats is a good one, I was slightly concerned about it but with that wrap around they have its probably not warranted. Does anyone know any dealers that have a car with Recaros in it? I am keen to have a sit in them again. (only sat in the Mk5 R32 ones a while ago)

      • Those seats may be a but cramped in a small car anyway? Would be good in an RS4, just saw one drive past with them actually, looked hot.

I still find it amazing that Renault can supply essentially the same Recaros in the lowly CLio 200 WITH side airbags (at a substantially cheaper price) yet VW cannot. So you are paying lots of $$$ to reduce your side impact safety. Side impacts are by far the most dangerous accidents around.

As a few people have mentioned, the Renault recaros aren't as nice or as supportive (and are still a 5k option in the Megane?) and also that the seats themselves are great for side impacts.

Have you been in a side impact?
I just ask, because I think your vision has been affected

                • Just ordered white 5 door DSG with black 19" rims, sunroof, ACC, leather and bluetooth.

I notice some of you are ordering MDI AND bluetooth.
What do you get with MDI that you can't get with bluetooth (if you have an iphone)?

Connection port in general. You can connect more than just an iPhone to it. Also supports USB, so essentially anything can be plugged into it.

You also get full control of the Apple related device via the touchscreen interface. Not sure if you get that via Bluetooth.

                    • Some of the bluetooth kits support A2DP bluetooth audio streaming. You can stream audio across this on supported devices. But I also don't believe you can then control the playback via your steering wheel controls etc. MDI gives you full control of your device, displays song titles on the headunit and in the MFD, and also allows you the ability to use other storage devices, like USB keys or USB HDD's. So when you get sick of constantly having to remove your iPhone when you get in the car to control it via that, or plug it into a cable, you can simply plug a USB into the car to store your music on that

                      • It should also be noted that the RCD510 that comes standard has the SD card slot that will take up to 32Gb for file playback and is controllable via the steering buttons, so if you don't have an iPhone, then the MDI is not really necessary.

                        • I recommend getting the MDI for anyone who is thinking to, a very low cost option that does alot. I have an older ipod system on my Mazda and this has been great. I have an old 30gb ipod permanently attached now, which the adapter charges and allows full control through my head unit or steering wheel buttons

                          • Yeah... and although the SD slot might be fine for many people... 32GB (~30 actual capacity) won't even allow me to store half of my purchased CD collection converted into MP3! That'd be annoying, as you just never know what type of mood for music you'll be in out on the road

                            • Apparently IOS 4.1 will support the full AVRCP Bluetooth suite, allowing you control over the iPhone/iPod via Bluetooth (skip tracks, etc).

                                19" Alloys (silver) + ACC
Leather, Bluetooth, Dynaudio Upgrade, and front windows tinted to match.

Very happy with the price, but delivery could be up to 6 months so looks like i'll be joining the waiting queue.
