I understand Lima where your coming from and have offered discounts on cars in stock including the two sold today in corp + pricing. The problem us dealers have well at least me is I don't have many left.. I don't think these cars will stay around for 4months although I have to keep my personnal demo for at least that long cause I won't be able to get my hands on one. I have already had customers coming with discounted prices from other dealers. Anyway three left cheers.

People tend to say this and this dealer is giving this discount, to try and actually get a discount.

Why would any dealers give discounts on the golf R, when they are brand new, and in high demand? I would think customers should be bidding higher for them!

If people want to get one of the first cars I dont think they can or would expect the biggest discounts, given each dealer may only have a few each. They aren't going to sell them for more than RRP though.

He's sold a few which are in stock with a discount, including corporate discount, and he has only a few left because he needs to keep a demo since he can't get a replacement. Of course, as G-rig mentions, the discounts might not be that large, simply because there is a lot of customers out there and replacement floor stock is still some time away.

Factory orders are definitely attracting discounts. So far I haven't spoken to a dealer who will not offer discounts on the R if it's a factory order. Again, don't expect some of the "unbelievable" discounts people have posted in the GTI thread due to the R already being very aggressively priced, but anyone who is seriously about a purchase should be happy with what's on offer.

I can personally recommend Dermot (on these forums) at Wangara Volkswagen for the west coast members, and Mathew Gazzard at Denlo Volkswagen (Parramatta, NSW) and PhillipVWDealer at Gerald Slaven Volkswagen (ACT) for east coast members (QLD, NSW, ACT and VIC). All three of these guys will look after any genuinely interested customer.

Hey guys. One of my mates wants to get a 3dr R, He isnt fussed about any colour in particular and he wants to get one that is in stock at the moment. He has rung around most of the dealers in Sydney and they dont seem to have any. Does anyone know of any dealer on the east coast that has a 3dr R in stock at the moment that is for sale?

3 door R's were not going to be sold in Australia - until we complained and VGA changed their minds.... HOWEVER....
There was an initial "launch batch" of 3 doors coming into the country, and then any further 3 door models need to be factory ordered. I'm not sure if VGA are saying dealers cannot have floor models in 3 door, but there is no requirement etc for them to stock them.... and being how "anti-3-door" Australia in general is, it's not likely they would by choice anyway.

So tell your friend to pick up the phone and start ringing in the morning... don't wait for anyone here to reply, because once they're gone, factory is likely the one way

Thanks, I initially asked around before I purchased mine. I know Barloworld Mascot had 2, but one was sold and the other was around 68k+. He has rang around most places in sydney, but no one seems to have any available. One dealer said that dealers that do have them are hiding their stock, as they are not showing that there are any in Australia. I noticed earlier that someone had a photo of one up in the ACT?

Yeah - there was one in ACT. PM WhiteJames and ask him if he remembers which dealer it was (he was the one that took the photo).

But to be honest, I'd believe that there are none available in Australia. This is what Volkswagen Group Australia said would happen with the 3 doors...

I'm sure their are others around elsewher, I'll tell him to ring around everywhere tommorrow morning, I think i've done my bit. Now I just have to drive him around for the time being in mine which I am picking up next thursday.
