I am basically wanting to buy now (I think - need to drive one), and rang two dealers and said "I want Golf R, you have what I want in stock (colour is not a major issue for me), I am ready to buy now, no trade, no finance - can you do better than full RRP because you are not my closest dealer so if you aren't going to do any better than the guy down the road then we won't waste each others time". The response was "just buy from the local guy - we are not giving anything off". I actually didn't expect much, but nothing was a bit of a shock to be honest.
I currently drive a 2008 Audi TT that I will be selling privately, so I don't want the GTi as it is essentially the same drivetrain (albeit 155kw now). Hence the R - all wheel drive and more power plus 4 doors (and a trip to APR after 2-3,000 klms are done!).
Cheers
