Warranty claim - Transmission issue...
Guys,
I need your advice please..
I have recently bought a 2012 golf 90TSI (7 speed DSG, 1.4L) through a private seller (first owner), car has been serviced twice at the Sydney dealer where it was bought, it is due for service next months (will be doing 30K by then). The car has warranty until mid 2015.
When I read the log book and spoke to the previous owner, there was a note that the care was “slipping in gear asses” but when it was taken to be checked by the dealer, they said that they could not replicate the issue. When I test drove it, I could not notice that issue either.
Now, two months since I bought it, I am 100% sure that the car has an issue with its transmission, definitely not the DSG issue as I called the dealer and gave them my vin they said the car was not impacted by that issue.
Here are the two issue I am experiencing:
1- The car does not smoothly change gear when it switches to second, third, fourth and fifth, it feels like it is pushing too much power to change gear and the engine goes really loud (as if the car is on “P” and you are pressing power)
2- If you drive downhill and slow down and the car automatically changes back to lower gear (examples 2nd or 3rd which is normal) and then you press power to speed again, it does not change to any higher gear and the engine goes really loud! I normally switch to manual and change gear manually.
My questions are, has anyone seen or experienced anything similar to this? Also, I have booked the car for service next month at the same dealer and pointed that I am the second buyer and think there is an issue as it was reported by the previous owner and need a check done…
From what you guys know, would the dealer try to say again “could not replicate the issue”? I want to ask them to even get me to replicate it to them if that is going to be possible….
Your thoughts please!

Definitely sounds like you have some issues. I'm not expert on dsg's by any means but it sounds as though one of the clutches may be slipping and your mechatronics unit may be faulty. It's good that the PO has raised the issue before, if you can replicate the faults consistently then I would agree with taking the technician for a drive. Definitely doesn't sound like it's operating properly.

Thanks,
Ok to be honest I have been looking up stories about the dealership the car was taken to before and their reputation online is not the best, I am thinking about the option of taking it to another dealership but the fact that they checked it before and came back with the result of "could not replicate issue, customer to monitor and advise if issue re-occurs" makes me think that I probably should go back to them again...
what do you guys reckon?

Based on your description, I'd say it's likely to be a fairly open-and-shut case of warranty mechatronic replacement, but speak to your dealer and see how you go. If you don't get an adequate response from them, take it to another dealer.2008 MkV Volkswagen Golf R32 DSG
