Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Well I just had a f@cking awesome day today. Wangara vw had a 3dr DSG UG R with leather acc 19"blacks rvc bt & mdi in stock, so I went out for a look as my ordered car is a 3 door and I have never actually seen one in the flesh. Had a look and after a short chat to Dermot I cancelled my existing contract (kudos to the jason at dvg melville for being understanding) and now get to pick up my R on Wednesday!!! Not a bad price too at $59k flat with 12 months regoGolf R 3dr, UG, Black 19's, DSG, Leather, ACC

Except they're not called that obviously.
MKI: Typ 86, 1975–81
MKII: Typ 86C, 1981–94
MKIII: Typ 6N, 1994–2002
MKIV: Typ 9N, 2002–05
MKIV facelift: Typ 9N3, 2005–09
MKV: Typ 6R, 2009–
So the "6R" doesn't actually mean sixth generation
Congrats on collecting your car. I drove my mother's (then) 1 week old 77TSI two weeks ago. They're fantastic

Took the new R up to West Head in the sunshine yesterday for some straights and some twistys. This car is a joke, whatever I threw at it corners wise it was just rooted to the ground and the exhaust was amost saying, 'That all you got Langers'
Then found a long stretch of tarmac, turned off ESP , lipped it into Sport and you guessed it Launched. Unbelievable feeling, my god the way it flicks up to 5th in like 4 seconds, and the exhaust! Pins you into your seat. Incredible fun.....
What a bloody laugh.......
Currently getting OpticoatedIn Carport. R

Hello fellow MKVI R owners or those having an interest.
I am loving the car, most impressive is the tech in the car, and overall driving experience.
I have a technical question.... I have managed to get a gutter scrape under the front bar and am sure will get more....I do intend fixing it however.
My question is " How do I remove the front bar??" I have taken one off my evo 9 and WRX front bars and several others but was wondering where the major fixing points are located on the golf. Tried to find a schematic on the web but no luck so far.
I thought there may be some on this site that have the experience to guide me in the right direction.
Have thought of going in to VW parts and asking for a copy of the schematic but will try here first.
Any help muchly appreciated.
Cheers.
