Just got an update on the delivery on my Golf R...

So when I spoke to the dealer a few weeks ago and they updated me that my car was due to arrive in Brisbane around the 21st of this month (April), seems that was mixed up with another order. I thought they'd got my order advanced as the original was ordered in black and not candy white (I know, pretty major mistake, but partially my fault), but seems it was not to be.

Long story short, update was wrong. Car actually due in August.

If this could be summed up in a mathematical equation it would be; add frowny-face, subtract excitement and multiply by imminent arrival of more waiting.

Time to change my sig again...

I haven't yet asked, though I think I'll email the dealer tomorrow. Or maybe I should wait and just let it be a surprise this time! I think this time I'll believe it when I see the car sitting in my driveway!

Well I placed my order for my Golf R last week, just made the cutoff for the 3 door The dealer reckoned they are bringing the Scirocco to replace it. Anyway my car specs are in my sig, waiting to get allocated a build date now.

Are you sure they have stopped with the 3 door? My dealer says the scirocco rumor is untrue? And they haven't stopped the 3 door according to him.

LOL! On delivery day, I actually turned down the dealer's offer of coffee - too pumped already.

Well that's it. I'm going for a full physical then to make sure I don't have a heart condition I don't know about. LOL. Everyday I think about the day I'll pick it up. A tiny rush of excitement hits me. It puts me on the best natural high. The wait definately makes our cars special. My god! this is a little early for me to be this positive. LOL

I had it with my first GTI Mk6 and also in my new one - if you are getting the 18's it is definitely preferrable if not a must as the 18's without can be classed as a hard ride by some. My partner and I have different views on what setting when driving, so it suits us perfectly.

Yeah - ACC is cool...
But we're not all old people who think that the Golf with low profiles is a harsh ride

I would say that if you are getting the ACC because of the fact it has a "comfort" and "sports" button, then you're missing the point

Dunno man just going from what my dealer said, I mentioned to him that I had heard the 3 door was being stopped and he said yep they did it last week as a lead in to the scirocco being announced as coming to Australia. That being said I tend to take everything a dealer says with a grain of salt

FYI, Have upgraded it to APR stage 2, and put 2 sets of polk audio 6.5" splits in which sound EPIC!, Two amps and sub in the boot to top it off,, am considering a fuel pump but need to do a bit more research,, enjoy!

FYI, Have upgraded it to APR stage 2, and put 2 sets of polk audio 6.5" splits in which sound EPIC!, Two amps and sub in the boot to top it off,, am considering a fuel pump but need to do a bit more research,, enjoy!

Mate can you please post some pics of your sound system setup? In particular your amp/sub setup. I'm planning on putting a whole new setup in mine, thinking a couple of sets of boston's with a 12" JL in the boot running off a couple of the Alpine PDX amps.

How does it sound in the hatch? Did you dynamat the car? Any rattles?

Sorry for all the questions but you are the first person I have come across who has put an aftermaket sound system in the R and I'm really interested to see how it is...

**** you make my colour choice harder... i was discussing with the missus yesterday which one i shouls go for. she hates white, i reckon it looks awesome with the wheels. havent put pen to paper yet, been snowed under with work myself.

also keen to see audio upgrade on it.

is there anyone in nsw who has one with dsg and acc who could take me for a drive n show me the differences?

Hey mate, yeah I hadn't seen much info on it either so I thought it was worth chucking out there, glad I did!, What you want to do is pretty much what I've done, got each amp attached to the back of the rear seats. Seats can still fold down. Sub is detachable via a plug. Sound deadening in doors. Coustic amp driving a kicker sub, and a JL amp running the Polk splits in the car.. It's a similar setup to what I had in my old Lancer (which I moved to this car),, but sounds about 100x better now due to the quality of the car, everything used to rattle in the lancer,, now I just get bass the vibrates my brain without a single rattle,, it's amazing! Also, have hard wired my $100 TomTom, so no more cig lighter power,, better than $3k on a sat nav system!,, Maybe I'll have to start a new thread or something to show the pics, will let you know when I get around to taking some shots,,

Hey there! I've got my R on order,now comes the long wait. I too was wanting to put my previous audio system in the R. What is the depth on the doors like. I've got two pairs of focal utopia splits to put in. Are u running your amps off the factory headunit? There's no pre outs are there? Do u get engine noise because of the factory unit?
