I'm 1500+kms in, and I think i'm bored with my GTI. Is there something wrong with me?

- Wish it had more hoot.
- Wish i never got white - way too many imperfections show up.
- Wish it rode a bit more smoothly.

- Love the xenons
- Love the seats
- Love everything.

But I'm bored. Yes - yes I'm crazy i think.

Exact reason I put up with the wait and extra coin and replaced my September delivered GTI with a December delivered R.

In saying that, the GTI is an awesome car, and is actually more "fun" than some things in an R.

For instance,
-you can get nice wheel spin in a GTI
-It is more responsive for more fun at normal speeds
-It hooks out of corners with an almost rear driver balance (which was bloody awesome fun).

As for wishing it was smoother.. I dont know if there is another car on the market that can do that for +/- $10K.. A commodore perhaps?

A GTI is pretty darn smooth tbh and should be really a fun car.

I think its just time for an exhaust and boost gauge for you

White looks great in some cars.. the GTI is one of them. (the red lines at the front, the detroits etc all look great against the white.

And as for imperfections in the white.. just be happy you didnt get a black or metallic car then.

Maaybe I am missing something though.. did you want something more.. angry? get a new WRX then MY11. Look mean and go hard and AWD launches. Just dont expect smoothness and luxury like you have now.

Well I got a surprising call today from VW dealer.
My R ported on the 8th and dealer has advised a pick this Thursday! (17th)
A week earlier than expected.

After running around today dealing with a particular financial institution, something tells me this week may not happen..

Well.
Gratification finally.
After six months and still no sign of a build date, I went to dealer Saturday to get some answers.
Customer care Manager stated that would probably be well into second half of year for delivery.
So that would be over 12 months from order date.
Frack!
Wasn't happy.
So did the only other thing possible and rang around other dealers.
Short of it is that I have picked up a similar spec car from another dealer.
It is a cancelled order and I am picking it up on Friday 11.00am.
They also have 4 other cars I could have chosen.
Guys, be very cautious believing what dealers are saying in regards to delivery ETA's.
Insist on evidence that build slots are confirmed. Ie Nadcon screen prints.
After speaking with just two dealers I had a choice of 6 vehicles - 3 or 5 door, acc or no.

Good luck all those waiting, I feel for you.
I haven't stopped smiling since being told of my Friday delivery.
My wife thinks I'm CRAZY!

Well... you can't demand to see a build date if one hasn't been allocated, but yeah - after 6 months of waiting, that does sound.... sussssss

Anyway - this is great news that you've found a similar spec in stock! You'll have to update your sig now! Congrats

Your right about the screen shot.
That's why I suggest that IF you have been told that it will be delivered in a particular month ask for a screen shot to see if a build date has been granted.
I was being told in December that delivery was pushed back to April, when in actuality they had no idea when it could arrive as no slot had been granted yet.

Just don't believe their BS.

Anyway, I am just so angry, especially as I know so many others are in similar situations.

All good, now I can cancel my weekly anger management sessions.

RevisedMY11 Golf R 3 door United Grey, DSG, ACC, Bluetooth, Big Dave - all that pent up aggression can be taken out on Saturday behind the wheel. 3 door R's have a better line due to the fixed rear side glass and in grey your R will be a real standout, well done on the purchase... what wheels?

all you guys that are blaming your dealers have got it all wrong! blame vw hq and the factories!

they have control over stock allocations and build dates. if ur dealer has no info, its not their fault. they can only provide estimates. the supply shortages/delays is a worldwide problem not just in aust!

for example, ray ordered his R 3 weeks before i ordered my gti, and i have been given a build date and he hasnt! not the dealers fault. its like a lottery at the factory lol
