Yes Solitaire. Ordered early Aug like you. Looks like we both "jumped the Queue" by getting our names on vehicles that they ordered for their own Dealer stock back in January.

Update: Golf 118TSi gets to "Sydney" on 5/10/2010, not the dealer, as promised earlier. I've been told "10 days to get to the dealer and another 3 days to turn it around for you to drive away". Estimated time of pick up now out to 18 October. Let's say 22 October to give them some wriggle room.

Did the literally say "We promise the car will arrive and be ready for drive away on 5/10/2010"?
Or did they say "ETA 5/10/2010" or it "should", "probably" "estimated" etc?

I am relaying most of this information tongue in cheek as I take everything anyone says, especially car salesmen, with a massive grain of salt. It was never promised, just the usual "6 to 8 weeks MAX" then as I agreed to the sale "up to 6 weeks" then as the money starts to change hands "more like 10 weeks"!

Once dealers have advance "stock orders" in the system (as opposed to specific orders for customers), they can change the spec of the stock car up until the time the car moves to "frozen status" in the factory build schedule. Solitaire had a few cars (not allocated to customers) that were ordered on the factory back in January. They didn't move to frozen status until about a month ago, so because I got in and ordered my car just before then, they could change it to my spec. If everything went to plan, those cars should have been built last week (week 3.

And when did you order? If it makes you feel better I ordered in June for an early Dec delivery.. Nearly 7 months all up. I have nearly necked myself waiting but keep it together with the likes of watercooled, you know who you are.

I ordered an R from dealers floor stock for week 37/38 build and I am hearing, from the dealer, that we won't see the cars til Jan 2011.

Anybody else hearing the same ?

Week 38 is now...
Most of us with week 37/38 builds are still being told late November/early December. If the car is truely being built now, I find it hard to believe that it wouldn't arrive until January...

Scheduled to reach Port Kembla on the 13th Oct according to the tracking website.
With 2-3 weeks turnaround from there, i'm guessing an early Nov delivery.

My car only has SatNav and MDI, so perhaps the delays relate to certain options?
