I've put the tune on hold but had two options lined up. One was 99% purchased but had to pull out because of the accident. Viezu

Damn it is a hoot.. it has settled in now, the front end now lifts when it hit 3000 and catapults you, I sometimes miss the gentler delivery of the stock tune but the low end delivery is better and the gear changes hold much better both up and down.

Well, smash repairs just rang

They will now be fitting a new bumper.

They tried 2-3 times to repair the old bumper but it kept cracking so insurance has authorised a new one.

Do you guys know if they come with the sensor holes precut or will they cut them. Reason is I have seen some dodgy installs of sensors and the ones on the R were perfect

Will now not be ready until Friday.

Damn.. Sorry to read about your R mate. That just plain sucks.. Hope you get it back looking as it should be!

I've had good luck thus far with mine. Touch wood it remains that way.

I actually would have preferred they kept the old bumper but it won't hold paint. Now they will do a full respray of it and try and install the sensors in the right place !


I've had bumper resprays before and they always end up with problems. Already been off the road for a week, looks like a few more days and then whatever time it takes to get it right (I am fully expecting issues with the respray)

The bumper will come pre drilled with the holes. Had a new rear bumper put on the Jetta after a motor bike bumped in to it and the holes are there from factory.

Have a real close look for fish eyes when you collect it.

I suspect the sealant I used caused some problems for them

Joking but it is brilliant stuff and will be going on once the paint is cured

Just know someone who noticed the panel beater had spilt something (epoxy or filler?) on and in his car after he signed off on the repair. The panel beater and insurance company are refusing to do anything about it. To say he's annoyed is an understatement.

Mine covers accidental damage (and if no party can be identified. You pay the excess)

There are some shocking smash repairers out there, very happy with mine so far and they did our GTI too

The panel beater is claiming it was there before they worked on it, the insurance company said they would sort it but put it in the too hard basket once the panel beater denied all knowledge.
