If they're just going to put on "whatever", then it would be best to talk to your insurance comapny and ask that the one window be redone by the original tinter. It'll be cheaper for the insurance company, and it'll be better for you... unless you don't like your current tint and the stuff the repairer is offering is better...
Thanks Corey_R will find out what they intend to use. I got the tint done by Melville VW - once when I bought the car and then it was all replaced because it was such a terrible job.. I was finally happy with it lol - just my luck really.

    • Did the guy climb in through the windows? Since the doors are deadlocked by default.

      • I have no idea.. I assume that it was a matter of leaning in through the window, pulling down the fold down part of the seat and reaching in.. easy enough without having to open a door.
I think the deadlock doors would be a bit of a pain to anyone wanting to steal the car vs just wanting to steal something out of it.

        • 2 months old, side swiped.

          Bumper, rear quarter, rim, tyre

Plan to book it in next week. No faith in repairers getting it back to factory finish

              • It looks superficial so hopefully shouldnt be too bad.. if it has affected anything underneath that could be the difference

                • No, glancing blow. All looks good underneath although rear quarter looks to be out a few mm

Only just grabbed the rear quarter panel. Bumper bounced out but took paint off.

                  • Will ask for wheel alignment

Actually think they may not have to repaint rear quarter - almost a PDR job with just the edge pulled out a bit

                    Fingers crossed.

Bumper did very well, not deformed at all

Not being a panelbeater, wouldn't have a clue if its legit or not!
Just reading back through this thread and saw this post.

                        Is this true ?

If so, I may just deal with a damaged rear quarter.

                        Oh crap .....

Well, at least being non-metallic, they wont have to do much blending. One advantage of the CW eh

I'm hoping that on Monday, they say they can pull the edge out and do a touch up job. That is about all I want to tell the truth. The less the body gets messed around with the better.

Taking it to Parramatta Smash Repairs - BMW/Lexus factory accredited repairer. They did the GTI when it got rear ended. Will be asking for attention to detail. There goes all that sealant I layered

                            • Sorry to hear Candyman, that sucks hey. Stay positive and I hope all works out. Your repairer should be able to get that sort of damage back to brand new looking no probs. Keep us posted on how the repairs turn out.

                                Thanks Rob

Took to the damage with some Menzerna IP just to see what damage is really there underneath the silver paint from the other car

Bumper has dropped a few mm, scuffing and tear in bumper and edge where it meets the q panel is rubbed to the base

Bottom edge of Q panel is folded in slightly and some paint off.

Could be lucky here with a new bumper, some gentle work to pull the edge of Q panel out and a touch up.

Got almost all the marks out of the rim, probably not worth replacing. Tyre is shot (torn sidewall).
