  • 3 months down and some idiot dinged my right pasegner door. Quick PDR for $80 and she's as good as new

Oh and a tiny chip on the lip of the bonnet most probably due to the trip up the sunny coast last XMAS. Getting some touchup paint next week.

      • oh and on the way back home on the Princes freeway today near the ring road on ramp - Huge freaking inflatable seat thing came at me, blowing across the road, missed my car by a metre or so..

That would have REALLY messed up the paint work. No idea where on earth it came from, it was about 1m^3

        • just under 3 months old and my baby copped it hard this morning turning right (in the left of 2 right turning lanes) and squeezed into the kerb by an M3. wobbled the car to a stop and called nrma who are sorting everything out now. was in too much shock to get the rego but what can you do

got an xr6 hire car, feels absolutely huge in comparison

          • That's awful - esp since if the guy didn't stop (he must've had something else to hide from the police). Was it a newer or older M3 (perhaps stolen???)

He didn't stop, probably because i didn't hit him. i *think* it was a newer one (e90/e92) but to be honest i can't recall. all i remember is seeing m3, kerb, bang, and then realising that the car was broken (had to pull right to keep it straight) so just pulled over and waited for my hands to stop shaking...

I wasn't in a frame of mind to take pics, though cosmetically it looked fine apart from the rear left wheel which was scratched+dented pretty bad and pointing in a different direction. I have a hire car now though so thankfully the only real damage is $1000 excess - don't need to change any plans

                • Ah that's good (well not really, you know what I mean) - thought you were physically pushed off the road.

                  • As I replied in your other post mate, that sucks

You are OK though which is great

If no panel damage, other stuff is just replace old for new

could have done an axel and a wheel hub but as CM said a replacement will sort that out, just hope they are in stock.. will definitely need to get an alignment. Well there is cost a carbon fibre insert.. will have to put that off

Glad you are ok and your plans are in tact

Bugger, sorry to hear!! Hope all works out well for you and soon and you don't take it to the same mob as CM did for his fixup.

Yeah no panel damage at all. I think what happened is my left front jumped up onto the kerb, but the rear left didn't have enough angle to do the same and copped some pretty heavy damage. Looking down the left hand side from the back, it's pretty obvious the rear is pointed outwards

On the bright side, the whole claim/tow/hirecar process has been very smooth. Also my hire car is a falcon xr6 - such a massive car but quite nice to cruise around in

CF has already been paid for lol! Yeah hope the replacement parts are in stock, I wouldn't be surprised if I actually damaged the suspension arms - it was a pretty decent whack. Will ask for a full report from the repairer when I pick the car up, hopefully within the next 2 weeks since that's how long I have the falcon for. Ploughman's lunch is definitely still on, rain hail or apocalypse

thanks, given that no cosmetic work is needed (which is still to my disbelief) even they should be able to do a pretty good job. The repairer recommended by NRMA in my first prang was top notch, absolutely flawless work (Autotech Smash Repairs in Artarmon).

                          • My driver's door was dented in three places during its 45,000km service just before Xmas. Door has moved slightly as there is no longer the solid "thunk" sound when closing, and there is noticeable wind noise when driving at freeway speeds.

Booked in tomorrow to "have the door replaced" - we'll see if it's the whole door or just the door skin. Here's hoping they fix it properly the first time.
