Hey Guys,

Smashed the rear right tail light on on 2011 TDI today and AdamD recommend that I put a post in here to see if anyone who has replaced their GTI's with LED tail lights may be wanting to offload their original lights.

So I'm after a set of tail lights let me know if you are wanting to sell some.

Hey guys,

Fitted and coded my LED taillights this arvo.
Central electrics revision: 0537. Changed hex code from 00 to 15 as per the instructions on page 27 (the binary input box wasn't available in VCDS).
Bulb out errors have disappeared. Tested the function of all lights front and rear and all is fine, except that the tail lights on the hatch don't go out when the hatch is opened.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

anyone have the VCDS details for a MY12 GTI as i i have followed the instructions and now the high beam also turn on with the normal headlights,
bit 18 was 00 originally.

What did you code byte 18 to? That info would help.

Many thanks to Ozram for his help with the German contact - I received my LED tail lights yesterday and whipped them on right away. First impressions are great though the reverse light is only on the left tail light and doesn't seem as bright as the old set when looking through the reverse camera. Is this how it is meant to be or will the programming required make some changes to how they operate?

Didn't get a chance to compare on mine as they were swapped when I first got the car, but I'd imagine the reverse light would be weaker on the R tails as the reverse light strip is about half the height of the standard GTI tails.

^ the reverse light on the R tail lights is absolutely piss weak and useless Miilos. Ive tried using different bulbs to increase the light output but it made no dfference.

If you get the LED numberplate lights it helps illuminate behind the car a bit better when reversing.

Yeah I agree.. I see next to nothing when reversing at night, especially with the tinted windows. Regretting not getting the RVC now only for this reason.

Still don't regret my decision to go the R tails, they are just too awesome! And yeah I'm going to get the LED plate lights in the near future, want a cleaner look than the weak stock ones give now.

Yes, just to remove the bulb-out warning and prevent fault codes.

Just wanted to say I'm one more convert to the R LED taillights. Thanks go to OZRAM for his super quick response. I have ordered them today and will post more when they are fitted. This post is a bit like a date stamp. Will see how long it takes from order to drive. More to follow...

Let me start by first saying thanks to OZRAM for putting me in touch with his German contact, organising the lights was a very smooth and easy process.

Having installed the lights without a hitch, I have run in to an issue with coding.

Please see below for what comes up when I jump in to Byte 18. I don't appear to be able to amend the Binary.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated?

My Golf Cabriolet has LED lights as standard so I don't have a point of reference, but the RVC in that is awesome even at night. The aftermarket Pioneer in the Van is absolute crap by comparison giving a basically black screen at night vs a perfectly useable screen in the Golf. Not sure if it also has LED numberplate lights (haven't looked into that yet).
