hey wyeann,

they cost 509 euros including shipping which works about to be just under $700. they come with the cables needed to plug them in and coding instructions. the install was very easy and only took me about an hour. just pm ozram (forum member) and he'll give you the details you need to buy them from his german contact who is very helpful. I'm sure that you could find someone on here from sydney to help you do the coding. there is an install video on youtube which is helpful

Just wondering how much cost to get this LED taillights and how can i get those?

do you install yourself or ask some mechs to do for you? if DIY, is it very complicated?

really looking forward to get it done, but know nothing about coding so a bit worried.

I got mine done at VW McGrath Sutherland. I took the VW serviceman method. Spoke to Sam, the Foreman there, he was terrific. Got them to fit and recode car. Took just under an hour and all up cost me $162.25. It might seem expensive but I wasn't that confident and it was all over and done with in an hour.

where did you get your vagcom cable from? and how much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking? it seems like most people here in WA haven't got the cable and have just gone to the same place to get the coding done. I guess it would be cheaper to do it that way rather than buy the cable as they seem kind of expensive.

Well i'm thinking about some LED tails for the GTI... They look awesome. Give the car a much angrier look, IMO. A few questions - ive had a read through various pages here and have a general idea, but i dont have time to go through 92 pages to confirm!!

The car in question is a 2011 MY12 3dr GTI with just the regular headlights - i understand this effects coding. What coding changes in VAGCOM need to be made to get these tails to work best? Also, where can i get this program(is it free?!?!) and what cable is required?(i assume probably ebay). Im pretty familiar with these sort of programs so messing around with it should be pretty easy for me.

A genuine set of these tails appears to be approx $800. That's a lot of money for a pure cosmetic mod! They can be had for a little over $400 for a set on ebay. Obviously these are aftermarket, not genuine. But they appear to look alright... has anyone tried these? If they do the same job and look more or less identical for a lesser price then it would be a great option!

Don't go cheap - use quality parts...and benefit from those that have made sure it works well.

Those fleabay stuff maybe be half the price but they could also be double the trouble.
