    Here's a pic I found, pretty nice
(except for the plastic backings, those could have been carbon).

      • Those Recaros look awesome, always liked the winged ones available in the S3. Definately not cheap though!

I doubt many people would actually order them for that price, not worth it when you can just get the others and have them retrimmed the same style.

Although if you got a big enough discount on the S3 could be worth it (esp when runout time comes).

Ps I prefer part suede so you dont move around too much , and looks a bit more classy.

            • Just for comparison, I spoke with some Audi dealers today to see what a bog stock S3 will cost. Found one in Canberra in stock and they're asking $65k on the road. It's a Sportback, Manual, Black. No other options. Pretty damn good price as Xenon's, Bluetooth are stock, but no sunroof, Nav etc. I believe a user on OzAudi just bought a 3 door S3, completely stock other than a FBSW for $64,400. The deals are certainly out there but they're all 09 stock. Looking on carsales for a comparison and I found a second hand 2008 model with Recaro's, Manual and Nav for $65k. Now that's a good buy. Those seats are horn and I had an R32 with the Recaro's fitted for a day about a year or so back. Fun for the short term but not for daily driving IMO.

              • That isn't that cheap is it? 60k or less would be good if you could get it for a 09 plate. (people were getting the 08 model with sunroof, FBMFSW and something else for 68k.. think it was the RS4 wheels).

That shape has been around a bit longer though and you'd probably lose more in the long term (and 5dr S3 don't look as good as 5dr Golfs IMO). Then again if there are no discounts on the R it would even out.

                • Getting a discount on the R straight off the bat is essential to my moving from the GTI. I've already got the relationship / deal in place with the GTI - while many who walk off the street might get the whole 'no discount' line, I might be lucky. They're going to move my GTI very easily if I make the move - and perhaps for more money cause there wont be a wait. That's the line ill be pushing with them but who knows.

That is actually a really good price for a new Sportback S3. Essentially almost $10K off the normal drive-away price. I suspect there is more to move on it if you are a serious buyer ....

                    • Would be worth getting the flat bottom wheel and sunroof too.

I thought he said it was 2010, but maybe he meant MY10 (I just checked, the car has just landed, so he'll get 2010 compliance, not that that means much, haha). The car also has the black grille package (around $800) and the titanium RS4 style wheels ($1700). The FBMFSW is just under $800 as well, so there's over $3K in options.

Also worth noting that Audi is running their free on roads campaign again this January, but entry pricing for a pov spec S3 is just under $65K IIRC.

                        • Would almost be worth getting an S3 as for and finish is still better as well as badge cred, although you'd have to limit the amount of options a bit ( in a 3dr manual I mean, a lot of ppl will be waiting to get dsg golf R I assume).

                          • So the $65k offered today by this Canberra dealer is not the best... as a 3 door with FBSW, black package and titanium wheels was $600 less.

I would therefore expect that $65k completely bog stock S3 to actually sell for $63k MAX. He was adamant that it wouldn't go for less than $65k though.

I'd say haggling over the phone with any dealer will rarely yield the best price. The local guys are pretty good and are normally willing to do attractive deals. Who did you speak to?

A bog stock 2009 S3 @ $63-65k is not as attractive to me as a relatively stock 2010 R with 2-3 options also at $65k (with some discount from RRP)
