Yeah - I'd say it's a case of the MK6 has pretty much been given every award that it could be given, all around the world, and they've now got so many orders to fulfil that they can't keep up with production.

Also, all those peeps who used to buy Toyota are probably scared off and ordering from VW instead hehe

Either that or its deliberate to create mass hysteria and therefore interest.
Same thing happened with MK5 GTI's, there were 8 month waits at the start.

I'm surprised dealers are discounting so much considering the cars can't come out fast enough to supply the demand. Seems like they don't really need to.

Yes, the wait is agonising.. although as G-rig says, it not as bad as the wait for the Mk5.

Question. Has anyone heard from their dealer re a build week allocation? Also, if so, when did you place your order?

Ordered my Tiguan in late January.
I just checked with my dealer and he says building in May and delivery in June.
So at least a 3 month delay between ordering and production.
I can definitely see why people pay a premium for car's already on the lot, with options they don't really need/want.

Posible delays could be due to outfitting the factory with equipment etc for the new models (Amarok) and the huge demand for new vw's.

Ordered 20th December. I imagine placed with VW by the 5th Jan.

When I called 2 weeks ago, I was told Week 6 build.

This timeframe seems so different from mine above.

Reason being that I am told delivery will be April 30 to 15th May (worse case).

How can yours be built in May but delivered within 4-6 weeks when mine is well over 2 months in between.

For me, if I wasn't getting a significant discount (like I did), I wouldnt be willing to wait 4 months.

Your details are pretty much the same as mine. I signed on Dec 12, so I would expect a week 6 / 7 production week and with a delivery of around what you've mentioned.

Emailed my dealer last week but haven't heard anything back. I'll chase them up and see what the go is...

I ordered mine 16th January, and was told June delivery worst case scenario. That sounds pretty accurate based on what you guys have been told, hopefully it doesn't get pushed back any further though...

So when I need the GTI VII in 3 yrs, I better order it 6months earlier.

I don't know if this has been discussed elsewhere, so apologies if it has, but my patient who has ordered a Golf R has just been informed that due to the "hot climate" in Australia, the R engine has been detuned by 10kw compared to all other countries. Sounds like marketing BS to protect the Ausi S3.

                              Yup discussed a few times.

However once you apply an APR tune as example, it will end up the same at 240KW regardless.

Except the S3 has the same tune
