  • GOLF GTI delivery dates

i went to the dealers few days ago and they claimed there's no GTI in AUSTRALIA wide.
the delivery date will be July is that true?
What takes it so long to arrive? Also when purchasing a new vehicle, if the vehicle has already arrived in Australia, does that mean options can not be put on anymore? it has to be at the time of the order?

From the guys on here orders in Dec arrive in April I think it was, so Jan would mean a May landing.

As for options, some options can be fitted by the dealer but others like the reverse camera, or park assist, are a factory fit and must be ordered from build.

I needed to get a car by the end of 2009 so I didn't have the choice to pick and choose options. Some options, you can get installed later but at a greater cost. For example, MDI iphone kit is about $300 or so from the factory. Dealer fitted it's $550.

On the 9th of December, I was told by two different dealers that there were roughly 4 GTIs per dealer in the whole of Oz. If I wanted one that another dealer had, they could arrange for it.

Now that a month has past, I'd say that your comment would be pretty accurate.

I don't know about the "No GTI's Aust. wide", but I've been told that you do have to wait a long time if ordering one new.

I assume that there are some late '09 builds currently on their way, most of which already have homes waiting for them, although you may get lucky and your order may match an unsold one on its way.

Re delivery times, yes, it's been stated in some other threads that the first build week for '10 isn't for another 3-4 weeks, with an estimated delivery of mid April-ish for those cars. People who ordered in Dec most likely have this schedule.

Speaking to my dealer yesterday though, he indicated that they have begun telling customers ordering now for a late May, start of June delivery.

can't believe you can't buy them, even if you have money.
          haha.
so i guess it's either wait or not buy..i wonder how you guys can wait 5-6 months ??? i can barely survive without a car for 1 week,

I believe the MKV's were a 6-8 month wait initially?

I ordered mine Sat 13th Dec and got it Wed the 16th. Nice Christmas present to myself. Went in on the Saturday saying I was ordering a car today no matter what (to get the 50%deprecriation), they said delivery wouldn't be till April or so, unless I took one of 3 cars in stock. There was a white, a silver and a red 3door stock standard. Have no kids so 3 door red suited me fine (after the test drive there was no way I could have waited months for delivery). Just means I got no fancy options. Just bluetooth and tinted windows and personalised plates. I was going to get leather seats, Dyn sound system, navigator etc, so having to get the stock standard car to satisfy my impulsive "I need it now" mentality saved me thousands.

In 3 yrst time though, I'll make sure I order the GTI VII some months in advance!

We share the same story. My accountant said "run! do it now!". Had a choice of red or black (5door DSG) with no other options or I could go for a fully loaded one which sounds great but I ain't forking out all those de niros. They could've got it ready in two days but by the time my finance company cut a cheque, it took a week, a very looooong week!

Whilst I'm sure it was very satisfying to get the car quickly, you only needed to sign the contract before 31 Dec, and take delivery in 2010, as I understood the tax break.

That's because Toyotas and Hondas are so basic. You have a range of colours, and usually only a 'luxury pack' etc. All other 'options' are dealer accessories.

A GTI has a few hundred thousand 'from the factory' combinations.

That's what I thought too. If you turn over less than 2 mil, you have to have it in your hands by end of 2009. Over 2 mil and you can implement by the end of 2010.

Talk to your accountant; within the ATO and forums such as the CPA association they have had discussions around the interpretation of this tax ruling as applied to lease contracts, especially Chattel Mortgages; Im not over the minute detail but the general thought was that a contract had not been entered into between the finance company and the provider of the equipment until the car had arrived and given that you cant have a financial stake in the asset udner a lease/chattel mortgage, if tested your contract is basicly null and void at the time of purchase as the finance company enters into the agreement at that point in time. i.e. you never had a valid contract as you never had any intention to be the owner, remember you dont own the vehicle (asset) until the end of the lease contract (assuming you want to buy it out)

Look, I want to stress im not an accountant at all nor a lawyer, so DO NOT RELY ON MY ADVICE - TALK TO YOUR ACCOUNTANT; I just know that my accountant is as "flexible" as they come and he said to me "get your arse down to that dealer and get the finance company to hand over a cheque prior to December 31 at all costs"; we picked up the car December 30....

Remeber this tax ruling was never originally developed for people buying one off motorvehicles.......

Oh, none of the above applies if you (your business) is purchasing the car with cash
