That's fine if you were happy with a stock one, and know you won't wont those options later. Things like Nav, MDI, Bluetooth can be retrofitted (even aftermarket leather albeit without the elect, airbags or heated) but most people are prepared to wait to get what they want (and waiting is probably half the fun).

They said any other options, had till wait till at least April, so I thought f*** it, this saves me money and I get it straight away.
Lol, Similar here looked at GTI on 7 Nov, test drove one on the 11th or 12th, ordered on the 13th and picked up on the 20th, then went of a mk5 GTG on the 21st.

Like you took what they had as I wasnt really all that interested in loads of options, took a red with MDI and added the rear sensors, only wish I had the 18" Detroits.

Everybody should order Detroits, be so easy to hock them off later.

My dealer told me when the car is built, they will email me the VIN number, then I can use that to track the car. Unfortunately, I order mine in the middle of Nov. Still haven't receive the VIN yet. I called my dealer before Xmas, he told me the estimated delivery date will be 15/04.

My dealer emailed me a screen dump of the ETA date and build process from his system. It is basically as follows.

                      Entered Dealers Sytems: 11/12
                      Allocation of Plant: 06/02
                      Handover to production: 13/02
                      Handover to Sales: 05/03
                      Exit Plant: 10/3
                      Arrival Port of Shipment: 15/03
                      Depart Port: 23/03
                      Arrive Destination: 05/05

Obviously a VIN number hasnt been allocated yet.

I assume VW's systems are standardised across the board, so you should be able to ask the dealer.

I also now have issues regarding delivery dates. Car was ordered last year december ( car is a CW GTI 5 door man, with detroits). Dealer stated car would be here end of April, and is now stating June. I now have 3 options, upgrade to DSG, get a red one or wait till june. I have no understanding of what couldve caused the delay. Any ideas guys?

I have the same issue with my Tiguan.
Ordered in January and was told it would be 3 months, now it's end of June.

I don't have a specific timeframe in my contract however so i don't know if i am able to do anything about it.

feels like they just lie about dates.
                            to keep you interested.
i have never heard of a buyer received their GTI on time....

what usually causes the delays? is it usually a few things coming together or dealer not filling their allocations on time ?

I imagine the delays mostly stem from VW underestimating the demand.

Either that or its deliberate to create mass hysteria and therefore interest.
