  • One thing I would say is that if the DSG fails outside of warranty (ie. second hand) then you're looking at a fix that is probably going to cost more than a similar transmission in a conventional auto. Just something to be mindful of, not a reason to stop you buying.

yeah, apparently their service was top notch. Dad flew down from Sydney, then caught train from Tullamarine? to Berwick station. The dealer was waiting for him in what dad described as "a huge VW truck" (turned out to be a new Amarok). Drove him back to the dealer, got the paperwork done and then sent dad on his way.

i'm still a bit jealous he got to drive from melbourne back to sydney in it haha. Would've been the best drive ever.

        • Just placed a deposit on a MY12 GTI Candy white 5 door dsg, detroits + some other goodies.

Managed to get 12.7% according to the spreadsheet.

Purchased a 9n3 polo Gti 2 months ago to get me through to the next golf driveaway deals. Didnt know it was going to be so soon. Oh well, its going to be up for sale then.

Looking forward to picking it up.

              • Hi went to Kloster VW and got offered the following deal. I think I'm not getting a decent price:
MY11 GTI, Tornado Red, DSG, ACC, MDI, Bluetooth, 18" detroits, leather, door sill protection, luggage net + Rear window tinting (this seems to be strange to me to have only tinting on rear window, have anyone heard of this?)
                for $50,239?

                Is this an ok price?
I'm happy to pay a bit more for a car as it's available within 2 weeks, but this seems steep.
Do I get hit much with a MY11 car versus MY12?

i paid $47000 for mine, so if we say your ACC = my Sunroof, then u are paying basically $3000 more for detroits. The door sills, rear tints & cargo net would be similar in value to my RVC.............and mine's a MY12 ..............I wouldnt pay more than $48200,
                  presuming its a 5 door !!!

                    • Dealers often use stock photos of the same colour cars and just tweak the price accordingly... Then when you ask about the $53k car they can say that its in stock...

There is usually a disclaimer saying that the photos may be stock photos and not of the actual car for sale.

There was some photos of a white GTI which was all over the country with different dealers. Even had the same blemish on the photo of a door handle from what I remember.

Always check the actual car that you're buying for discrepancies...

                      • I suppose it doesn't matter for new cars but how can the price be so different when the spec is the same?

How do you know the specs are the same? Are you reading something else than we are?

So the first one clearly says that it is priced in the current sale conditions, with approximately $4000 already off the RRP from VAG/dealer paying your onroads. Other than that, it has no option other than the Detroits (MDI and BT being standard now)

The second one makes no such mention of the sale, nor of ANY specification of the car. For all we know, you can take off the $4000 and it could have leather and sunroof and actually be a better deal than the first one.

But why ask us? We're not the ones selling the cars. If you actually care enough, enquire on both ads and find out the exact situation and let us know

                          • So there is no reason for the price difference. I doubt that the second car has any better options otherwise the seller / dealer would be missing a large percentage of the market.

                            • lol... with 1/4 million combinations of specification in the GTI's, you doubt that the 2nd car has any different options?
Considering they don't mention the spec of the car AT ALL?

                              Sure...
