MY18 MKII Tiguan 162TSI R-Line | Deep Black | DAP | Sunroof
For Sale - MY11.5 MKVI 3DR Golf GTI | Pearl Black | Manual | Sunroof | Dark Tint | Dynaudio | MDI | Bluetooth | Bi-Xennons Mods | R Tails | P3 Gauge | LED Interior Conversion | Lakin Plates | VW Racing Springs | 19" RAYS 57Motorsport G07EX
More than that. Free on roads and delivery too. About $4000 in total, or 12-13%. Anything over 10 is good apparently, so not a bad deal at all
The thing is on roads/delivery are free atm. Oh well, it looks to be a decent deal at least, probably could've had at least tint thrown in if I haggled harder.
Anyway, beats waiting a few months and it's in the specs I wanted... Can't wait!
Basically just rocked up at the VW dealership and put down a holding deposit on:
MY12 3door White Golf GTI manual
18" Detroit
Stock BT& MDI (MY12 standard)
For $38,990 drive away. Is this acceptable you think? Basically it's the basic car price with the detroits thrown in.
Delivery is in two weeks, it was a tad impulsive...
I knew I want a GTI but I'm afraid I settled too quickly
Any tips when dealing with finances or is it a set rate etc?
thats very good, i got mine for about $1500 more than u, no detroits, but i got tinting, weathershields and rear cargo mat, which is maybe $300-400 tops. plus u only have 2 weeks wait, i had to wait 8 weeks.
i would be happy with what u got, personally i would sell the detroits for $2k with rubber and get some other rims, which is what i did with my car

If you were offered that last month, you should've taken it before they realised their mistake....
$44,500 for GTI 5 door DSG with Leather and Sunroof is a 18% discount. Being such a low spec car, so far away from any stamp duty or LCT threshold, I would say optimistic is overstated, that "dreaming" is more like it. So $44,500 doesn't even sound believable, let alone $44,000
Btw... "sale" just means that you have less negotiation to do. The WA government aren't waving rego or stamp duty, insurance companies not waving insurance, the federal government not waving GST etc etc. The dealer is just "paying that for you". In other words, the exact monetry situation is still into effect. So if you get offered $44,500 again, don't be a stickler for the last $500, lol.
have to agree, i paid $47000 flat for MY12 CW GTI 5dr DSG LEATHER, SUNROOF & Rev camera......AND very happy
Sold - CW Mk6 MY12 GTI 5 Door DSG, Sunroof, Leather, RNS510, MDI, Tints, Lakin plate holders, BT & RVC, projected 'GTI' door lights
Current - Lapiz blue mk7 Golf R DSG fully optioned.
they were offering on road for VIC only, so kinda missed out on that one. Otherwise would've been great
So, $47K on road - Still Good. May be you should check Corey's spreadsheet (It's on the first page of this thread). That will give you a very good estimate.
I am sure your Dad would have enjoyed his drive from Mel to Can...
GTI BY & MY 12.5 - 5 Door
DSG, Carbon Steel, Bi-xenon, 18inch Detroit, ACC, Sunroof, RVC, Leather, Dynaudio & Window tint. GOT IT
whoops, forgot to mention it also came with metallic and the Park Assist package
including all this in Corey's price thing, and it comes out at $56,000 incl on road and GST..
Red n white are not considered Metallic. Not sure how you came up with $56K?
BT n MDI are standard on the MY12 golfs. I just did the estimate using Corey's spreadsheet, it comes to $54K drive away. And you got your car for $45 + $2K = $47K, which means you got a discount of around 12.85%. That is a very decent discount. Very good deal. You should be happy with that.
Cheers,

Hello
New to the forum I am looking at buying a Golf Gti DSG 2011, I have never had a Golf but I took a GTI for a drive and fell in love with it straight away.
I have a couple of question and would appreciate it if you could answer them.
1 every one i talk to say stay away form the Golfs as they break down often and are very expensive to repair.
2 What is the resale value like
3 are parts hard or easy to get for them
4 Is it worth buying one out of warranty or is it to big a risk
I don't mean to offend anybody by these questions i just like to know what I am getting my self in for.
Thanks in advance Misfit

- Hav't seen too many cases of Golfs breaking down, they used to have some quality issues in the early models
- They are German, yes they are going to be comparatively expensive to say Japanese cars.. but hey cars are expensive and you buy what you can afford
2 What is the resale value
- Pretty good, the GTIs do quite well as they are a great car
3 are parts hard or easy to get for them
- Newer ones are harder to get parts for but it is a timing thing
4 Is it worth buying one out of warranty or is it to big a risk
- Buying second hand is a risk for any car but you are taking that risk with the knowledge that it is cheaper than new and the warranty has been depleted.

Misfit,
1. I have never seen a VW being towed away (have seen Toyota's, Ford's, Honda's... etc... more often - NO offence to anyone here, i myself have owned/own all of them). It does not mean Golfs do not break down - they do break down, like any other car!
Yes, they are slightly expensive to repair as SF mentioned (they are European). But then most of the stuff is covered by warranty anyways.
2. Resale value is quite good. It also depends on when you sell it, like, how old the car is, options and so on...
3. As far as getting the parts are concerned, it may take longer than other car manufacturers (again European car)
4. I personally do not see much risk in buying a second hand or out of warranty as long as the car is serviced on time and is mechanically sound (I would prefer the one with warranty/extended warranty though - bit more peace of mind just in case things go wrong!.
Most important IMO is you buy what you like and feel comfortable with.
