You've got a very good price in my opinion. I'm getting my car through Solitaire but for service I might ring Murray Bridge to compare prices. Not much choices here in SA.

We went up there to have a look, decided on the leather seats (they had another GTI with leather up there so we could hop between the two), did the negotiating and they came back on Monday with $45k which was my offer.
Pretty happy with the way they do business. For servicing they will bring down a courtesy car to Adelaide pick up my car take it back, service it then return it as part of the service cost.
Now they probably include the courtesy car in the service charge, but it's the fact that they pick up and drop off that makes it a good service!
Murray Bridge is 55ks outside Adelaide for those who are not familiar with South Australia

I think sometimes it's pot luck with sales people. I dealt with Michael at Solitaire who was pretty good in my opinion. Generally return my call within a day or two and is quite prompt with emails.
Although I didn't get the best discount for my car, I am happy I didn't pay more than I have to ($44,350). I also had the demo GTI over night for my first test drive and took it out again for a couple of hours a second time a few weeks later.

Doh! Meant Saturday. Must still be too excited
The corporate plus discount got me $3500 as a starter and the rest was most likely down to the end of the month and needing the numbers.
Had the finance/insurance people and the tint/paint protection calls already. Another bonus of being 55kms away, and getting the contracts done via email means not having to sit through the 100% UV protection BS...

XTC838, $44,350 seems like a very good price for your extras - 5dr, dynaudio, bi-xenons, Detroits.
Does everyone here get the Corporate Discount? Is it with VW Australia or just specific dealerships.
I work for one of the Big 4 banks and our 'Corporate Discount' is with a company that owns several VW dealerships. I've tried twice to get a quote from them but they keep taking the p!ss and putting me in touch with dealership salespeople who come up with their own BS. As a result, I'd much rather deal with someone else or go through another Corporate Programme (Private Fleet perhaps).

I don't have any Corporate Discount.

Tell Duttons which of the big four you work for. They have a list of companies which are eligible for corporate plus (yours should be in there) and then all you need is a letter from your HR dept which says that you are using the car for business and bob's your uncle.
That's how it worked for me

Just checked the UK price for my spec of GTI and find that it would be 30,000 pounds (RRP admittedly), which at the current exchange rate is $44,500.
I guess that means that VWA aren't actually making a huge amount out of importing them over here, which is unlike the other european companies who seem to think that a 30% markup is required before they'll put a car on the lot...MY13 Polo GTI, also Candy White with pleather

In my experience, things like the corporate program are for those that wish to walk into the dealership & not faff about negotiating. If you know what others have paid & can negotiate well, you will probably do better than corporate price.carandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic
I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
