The fact that it says optioned with BT/MDI suggests it is MY11 or worse an MY10 model that hasn't been sold.

Aging inventory does a lot of damage to the books, so it makes sense you'd want to offload it asap.

Pretty sure the 53k car has a few options in it. The first one is basically a stocker bar the detroits.

$4000 due to the onroad's sale, and $3300 due to the leather...

The dealer selling the 53k then told me that it had been incorrectly priced and that it should be 48k.

Damn - seems to be some good deals on at the moment. I've been looking at picking up a Golf at the end of the year but this is tempting me to step up sooner. My birthday is later in October so thinking it might make a good present for myself...

Still tossing up between the GTi and the R.. will probably try to visit a few dealers and see what happens...

So the missus and I just came back from Austral VW up here in Brisbane. We're pretty much set on a stock standard Golf GTI (5 door DSG MY12).

Talked to the dealer and given $42990 drive away (no ctp/rego etc. deal atm). Dealer wouldn't budge on the price, so we asked about a corporate plus discount. Well apparently the corporate plus discount cannot be used in conjunction with the current deal so it ended up about $500 more ($43500-ish).

After a bit of talking the missus says that well get the union shopper to look around for us and immediately he looked a bit unhappy/uneasy. He said he'll throw in free metallic paint for the deal.

Still not convinced, he asked us what we would be happy to agree to if we were to sign today. He said it had to be a reasonable offer so I told him $40000 would be the sweat spot. He asked for our credit card (which I thought was weird) and took it to his boss. Comes back with $42500.

Now considering that he went to the boss with a $40000 offer gets me thinking that it was reasonable (since he didn't flat out refused the offer without going to the boss).

Anyway I'm going to let him call me back or I'll see what I can pull of at Highway VW on Monday.

Give Highwy a shot, as i know Austral's service is doggy. Anyway, the deal u taking is have stock or have to wait? if have to wait, what date they promise u？ and I suggest let them put the delivery date on the paper then u get anything in control on hand.

I was told it was in stock and the deal was only for "today". If I came back Monday they said they won't know if they can do it

Do u have quote paper in hand from Austral? if yes, u can bring over to Highway to seeking better deal, i think if u not hurry to pick up, u should get a better deal from somewhere else.

do you happen to remember who you dealt with?

i remember being there a couple of weeks back and they offered me a demo 5 door reflex silver GTI with Detroits, ACC and DYNAudio with 1200kms on the clock at $44000 drive away
