Of course, haven't taken possession yet, so things can change, but for me, the "buying experience" is almost as important as the $$$$ deal.
He went to both and they both offered him a Test drive walking in off the street. I don't know which one he is going with but it was a $1000 cheaper than the other.

    • Hey guys,

Im looking at getting myself a GTI later in the year (mid year).

What are peoples thoughts on the drive away price for this car:

      White 3 Door - DSG - $41490
      Sunroof - $1900
      RNS510 with Dynaudio - $3800
      MDI - $270
Park Assist and Reversing Camera - $1900
      Adaptive Chassis Control - $1500
      Xenons - $2000
      18" Detroit Rims - $1200

      $54060

Then I need to add Bluetooth (not sure on the price of this).

Would it be realistic to expect $54K Drive Away?

I will have a trade in - Toyota Corolla Levin SX 2008 model. On car sales they are going for around the low to mid 20K mark, im not too sure if Ill get the same towards trade in, or if I should prob sell privately.

      • Always best to try and sell it privately first, as long as it doesnt need too many repairs for the roadworthy.

I calculate that to be about $59,800 on the roads. $54k would mean a $5800 discount which would be 9.7% discount. So I think that $54k drive away is a very achievable target

I live in VIC if that helps with figuring out dealer delivery and stamp duty and so on.

I currently have an iPhone, and will most likely get any new ones that come in down the track. So how much does the Bluetooth cost for VW?

Also I want to know if the company I work for is apart of VW's Corporate List, which dealers can I send a message to with my details to find out?

              • In VIC the stamp duty is a bit cheaper than NSW if the car is under $57k. Which puts you wanting the car for only $54k into the extremely reasonable category.

I'm not an expert on the Bluetooth stuff (there is a section of these forums specifically for that), but from what I know the 'Premium Bluetooth' option used by VW requires rSAP which the iPhone doesn't use. However, the 'Basic Bluetooth' works fine with the iPhone. Then there are other options around like the Skoda and Fiscon units which VW can do. There are then of course a miriad of after market options - but I'd stick to one of the VW factory or dealer options to ensure proper integration.

As for your enquiry about the Corp Discount - any dealer should be able to answer that for you.

                • Does anyone know if I option on Xenons, that the Foglight get removed from the car?

                  • The foglights on the GTI are standard fare. They're an integrated part of the bumper. The addition of Xenon's doesn't change this. Is there any thing which prompted you to ask that question ?

There are some other VW cars (it maybe the R36 R50?) which have Foglights removed when Xenons are on the car?

It came up because when I went to see the Mk6 Golf at VW in Glen Waverley in Victoria. The guy I spoke to mentioned that on some VW Models Foglights are removed when Xenons are on, and I havent been bothered to chase up if it was the case with the Mk6 GTI.

                      • I was also wondering guys.

I get of my P's in late October 2010. and under the Vic laws for P platers I cannot own or drive a Golf GTI. Which doesnt bother me, as I need time to save haha.

However, would I be able to go and test drive and order a Golf GTI early in say July or August, and then have it ready for delivery in October?

Just drive the other models you'd get a good enough idea..

Not too much guess work whether the GTI is good, just order one. Could always let your dad test drive it anyway (since he's probably buying it ).

Then the answer for the GTI is no. All the press photos of the GTI had Xenon and Foglights present. There is also no mention of foglight deletion in the specs.

Well, I don't think it'd be legal for you to test drive the car whilst you're still on your P's. Maybe you'll just have to get the dealer to drive you around to demonstrate the potential of the car instead

Just talk to the dealers and see what they can arrange for you

Sorry man. This cars is all mine. My parents have a very hard line apprach to cars and alike.

My 1st car and this car, are all from me saving up.

However in the case of the GTI, Im thinking that I may need to take a small loan out (10K or so).
