If you read this thread from the beginning you would have found your answer, I doubt anyone here will do the research for you to save money.

      • hmm you guys are making me think twice about this paint protection from the dealer.. Corey did you get the Ventureshield to front bumper only i presume? GTechniq i presume is another form of paint protection - this may not be the thread but what would i roughly be looking at to get that done instead of this dealer stuff?

        • Dont get paint protection, absolute WASTE of money!!!
Take your car to Final Inspection and get them to put a sealant over the car. Much better job and cheaper!

Hey mate, in Sydney, a "standard" Ventureshield kit (of front bumper, grill, front half of the quarter panels and bonnet, and mirror covers, will cost about $695 installed (from Surface Tech). Ventureshield (or 3M PPF) is the only PHYSICAL barrier on the market without going to the extremes of an ugly "car bra".
Since your car is already cleaned and prepared for the Ventureshield covering, they'll then go and put G|Techniq C1 on for another $295. This covers both the paint AND ventureshield. G|Techniq is similar to "Opti-coat" that you can get from Reflect Effect - they're both a chemically bonding nano-product which last a few years (with regular washing and maintenance).

If you're not interested in paying someone to put on a nano sealant product (you HAVE to pay someone for the Ventureshield, it takes too much practise to do it yourself) then you could get Nanolex nano-sealant (lasts about 6 to 12 months) or use your own favourite wax (3 to 6 etc).

Whilst Final Inspection are a great detailing company, they use a lot of their own custom products, so it's hard to know what you're getting. Their "full metal jacket" is a great example of this. No mention of time frames or guarantees etc.

But yes, whatever you do, do not fall for the ming mole's sales speech in the dealership. Cancel that, save your money, and invest it into a real product with real benefits and realistic claims about their lasting ability. If you have more questions - head on over to the Bodywork/Trim & Detailing Forum and check out the threads there

Suggest reading whole thread to get a sense of what price/discount to target. Also try and decide options that are must have for yourself and others that are "meh" optional.

Anyway, sworn to secrecy on price by my dealer. They don't want to do more "lousy" deals.

No I don't think so, there was lots of tight clothing and amplified curviture, I do remember all that hair.. but I was busy looking at the GTIs and R out the window and mentally switching off to the drone

I went in to buy an R, but once I saw how much smaller the bootspace is decided I couldn't (need to carry work tools - already gone from a Hilux to an Outback and hoping to squeeze it all into a Golf...).

An R with the same options comes to $71,500. Even if I coud negotiate the same percentage discount (13.9%) I'd be up for $61,550...

                        • Ming Mole: anachronistically referred to as Empire of the Great Ming in which a small animal, blind, covered in fur with ears, reigns supreme in the polishing of valuable objects.
