        • The dealer claims probably around September. I'll believe it when I see it... I won't be too surprised if it doesn't arrive this year!

I didn't get the lot though - I figured I could survive without the park assist and sat nav...

          • well i ordered mine first week of march and my sales rep told me august/september delivery, so hopfully it works out the sooner for both of us looking through the threads the golf gti's seem pretty consistant with a 5-6 month order-to-delivery time.

I thought about the RVC, but then I'd never had trouble with parking. I thought it would be more worth while applying the $500 to full paint protection once it arrives and the R LED tail's (not to mention i still need to pay for my euro plates and insurance :|) and with the resale factor.. i plan on keeping the car for a while, im sure the next potential buyer wont see it a dealbreaker not having a RVC.

For about $4k more, you could have got all that in an R. But would have to wait awhile for it.

well... at $500, that's far too low to be a dealer paint protection, which must mean an aftermarket detailer doing a nano-coating or something... in which case it's completely worth it...

Though you could almost do the same thing yourself using one of the consumer nano-sealants (like Nanolex). Though it don't last quite as long.

It is the dealer 'Crystal Glaze' Paint Protection Corey - they gave me a discount on it, down from $895 RRP i think it was I think it will be worth the money as they offer lifetime warranty and claim I will never have to wax or polish the car. If anything degrades the paint (i.e. bird droppings, UV, etc.) I get a respray so I think it might be a good option. If I take the dealer up on the paint protection I think I also get an option of free Ventureshield hood pack which if true I will also take up!

A few of my mates had it done to their cars upon delivery and swear by it.

I can guarantee you that if you read the fine print in the product, there is enough vagueness and disclaimers that they will never EVER have to perform a respray. They fact that their magic snake oil claims that it lasts "a lifetime" ("twisting the truth") and that you'll "never need to wax or polish the car" (flat out lies) indicates that this is pure crap like most of these dealer snake oil products.

I can assure you, as could any detailer and chemical scientist in the world, there is no such product in existance which 1) lasts a lifetime and 2) means you will never need to wax or polish.

$43750 with corporate discount. Apparently there isn't a lot of margin in manual vehicles.

                          • yeh, those paint protection packages are definitely not going to last a lifetime, 12 months at most if parked undercover. less outside.

altf4, where was that price from, its ok, but i would have thought u could have gotten better. did u talk to barloworld at glen waverly?

Yup.. I wouldn't even listen the the spiel from the bimbo as the upsell counter.. she was most annoyed

Much rather detail the car myself.. 5 years on and not 1 swirl

                              • Yeah - I told the sales guy up front that I'm getting Ventureshield Stonegard and G|Techniq applied immediately after picking the car up from delivery so there is no need for any of the products the ming mole is selling. She came and said hello and gave me her card and told me if there is anything she can do for me to call her... but didn't give me her spiel
